As soon I was born, I was thrown into a very busy family of six. I have two older sisters and one older brother. My dad, Bryan, is always busy with his job as the president of SBS insurance and my mom, Janet, is an accountant at Axtell State Bank, but she does a lot more insurance work for my dad then accounting. Bailey, my oldest sister, is married and has one little boy named Elmer. She is currently pregnant with her second child. She also works at the Sabetha school as the early childhood special education teacher. My other sister Erin is still in grad school working her way towards a master’s degree in speech pathology. My older and only brother Evan is a freshman in college and as of right now is planning on majoring in nutrition and then going to med school to become a pharmacist. My family has gotten a lot closer as we have all grown up. We enjoy spending as much time together as we can because it isn’t very often that we are all in the same place anymore.
All throughout high school, I have always strived to be the best student I can be. I try my hardest on all my homework, and I also get most of my homework in on time. It has gotten a lot harder after covid hit because the few months that we were virtual were very easy, and I didn’t have to try as much as what I was used to. I have also enjoyed being active in the many clubs I have joined. I have been in FCCLA, SADD, KAY, and forensics for all four years and FLBA for only three years. All these clubs have made some sort of impact on my life, but I would have to say that forensics has made the biggest. This club as taught me so many life skills like public speaking, thinking creatively, and that practice makes perfect. I wouldn’t be half the person I am today if I weren’t in this club. I wouldn’t trade the experiences this club as given me for the world. All the connections I have made are bonds I will cherish forever. High school was one of the best times of my life, but as they say, ‘everything good must come to an end.
After high school, I am planning on attending Kansas State University. While I am there, I will be pursuing a degree in elementary special education. While in college, I want to have fun and make memories, as well as maintaining my good grades and GPA. This is going to be hard work, but I know that with the help of the time management skills I have learned through high school I will be able to succeed. Once I have my college degree, I plan on doing my student teaching in either Manhattan or Kansas City. When I am done student teaching, I want to move back home and obtain a job at one of the local schools and continue teaching. After a few years of teaching, I want to go back and take online classes and gain my master’s degree in special education.
Before I really settle down, I want the chance to travel the world. I want to see so many different countries, but the one country that I know I will sometime go, and visit is Germany. I know that it might sound like a weird place for a high school girl to want to visit but this is the country that my grandpa’s family had come from, and I have always wanted to see where my family came from. My grandpa has passed down so many stories that his grandparents told him about Germany, and I really want to see these places and who knows maybe I’ll be able to meet some long-lost cousin of mine.
