Capstone Reflection Video!
Here is a video presentation of my Capstone reflection!
Thinking about the process and product of your Capstone, what are you most proud of and what might you do differently if you were to complete a similar project in the future?
I'm most proud of the infromation I provided to the people going ot NY. I am also very proud of how beautiful my slides lookes and how easliy they were to understand. If I could do anything differently, I would make the presentation a bit more interactive. Such as questions in the middle of the slides, or some trivia at the end. It would have made the presentation more engaging and would help the informaiton stick with them. I would also have made the bullet points a bit shorter and easier to read, rather than using small paragraphs on every slide.
Explain how your life experiences are reflected through your project.
Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved theatre and all things to do with performing and singing. This project just shows how my love for all things theatre goes beyond just performance. This presentation also reflects my love for theatre and Broadway, especially where the culture started. Having the privilege to share this love with many other people who share it made this project even more special to me.
Thinking about all of the Extra-curricular hours you completed, reflect upon what you have learned through the experiences and/or how have you been impacted as an artist?
What I've learned from those experiences is how to work with others while still maintaining confidence in myself and my abilities. When I went on a choir field trip called ASU Vocal Connection, I didn't know anyone else in my section, so I was very afraid to give my best. I was very nervous about other peoples perception of me and what they will think of me. But, as the day progressed, I realised that in order to have a great performance as a choir, you have to sing as if you are one voice. That type of synchronization requires many things, but above all else, trust. Not just in yourself, but in the people around you. The same applies for theatre, and trusting yourself and your cast to perform as well as you can.
How has your life been positively impacted by the arts?
As a child, my family has always made it a priority to do some kind of music class. Because of that rule, since 4th grade, I've been participating in the arts. Being in the arts as a child to a senior in high school has provided me with a way to express myself throughout the brutal days of teenagehood in ways that sometimes, I couldn't speak. Not only that, but the community and the found family that comes with it is nothing that I've ever experienced before. Being with the people who share the same thrill and joy of performing and telling a story to people allows me to be my utmost authentic self. I'm able to have confidenc ein myself that I struggles to find anywhere else.
How do you plan to include artistic experiences in your future after high school?
I really wan tot get out and start doing community theatre. Even when I am in college, I still want to participate in their theatre programs. I also want to take acting and singing lessons to further help me develop my skills. I do want ot try to pursue some kind of arts-related career, but in the meantime, I am focusing on building my theatre resume.
What advice would you give an incoming freshman about studying the arts to help them make the most of their experiences while in high school?
I would tell them to participate in everything that they can and not to let their fears stop them from doing things. When I was a freshman, I let my fear overcome me, and it took me until my junior year of high school for me to really grow into myself and fully participate (or at least try to) in everything that theatre and choir offered. Honestly. just do everything scared, because if you don't, you will ultimately regret not doing everything you could.
