When you remove an account, the notes in that account no longer appear on your iPhone. The notes remain in your internet account (for example, iCloud.com or Google) and any other devices you had already set up.

You can minimize the chance of deleting notes by mistake by making sure you've turned on the note deletion warning. Click or tap the Settings icon located on the upper right of the list of notes, and then set the Confirm before deleting button to On.

After following the steps as described here, the account is still visible in the overview. The deleted account is visible but greyed out and you cannot do anything to remove this account from the overview.

People aren't notified when their accounts are deactivated, nor are their messages or files deleted.
