Organizational Structure and Conflict
Mikkelsen & Humle (2020) suggest that the more formal and structured an organization, the more likely discussions of conflict are to be suppressed, leading to increased covert conflict and negative consequences for organizational functioning. This could suggest a need for structural change. Should a highly structured organization embark on a major structural shift in an effort to better address conflict within their organization? Are there other solutions?
Organizational Theorists and Conflict
There are many theorists throughout history who have contributed to the body of knowledge on organizational conflict. Some did directly, and some created works in other areas of literature that have since inspired scholars after them to apply it to conflict theory. Think back to Assignment #1, and the organizational theorist you chose. What contributions did they have towards organizational conflict?
