Here is a list of our Frequently Asked Questions. If you don't see yours below, feel free to contact our team!
What does MHSDC stand for?
MHSDC is an acronym for Marion Home School Discord Community. We like to think of it as the communication capitol of Marion Home School and hope it's visited just as often as DC itself!
Is this a Student Council Project?
No. This is student-led. While the council is welcome to be involved, their involvement would be as partners with server leadership.
Is this sponsored by MHSap?
No. MHSDC was made for MHSAP high school students by members of the student body, however, it is not sponsored, funded, monitored, or approved by MHSAP.
What is the point of MHSDC if I can just get the phone numbers of people I want to keep in contact with?
The point is to simplify and expand the process of meeting new people. It would be difficult to meet every other High Schooler at MHSAP and get them together in an open environment to talk. With MHSDC, you can meet people with who you wouldn’t have contact otherwise. More introverted students may also feel more comfortable initially meeting people through the forum.
Is this a social media group?
While technically, it could be defined as one, the only people allowed on the server will be high school students who go to MHSAP.
What kind of things will go on at MHSDC?
Conversations. There are various channels (areas for conversation) where different topics may be explored within the rules and regulations that have been set (these keep discourse civil).
Why are only high-school students permitted to join?
First of all, the way classes are organized at MHSAP are by grade. High school and middle school activities are generally separate. In addition, because of the novelty of MHSDC and the idea in general, we preferred to open it to only one group of people (decided to be high school students) before considering the middle school demographic.
Is there anything stopping people from doing or saying anything they want?
Yes, there is a set of rules and regulations surrounding respectful conversation. Profanity, inappropriate subjects/comments, and disrespectful or abusive language toward students among other things will not be tolerated and will be dealt with accordingly. If a member feels the rules have been violated or they need assistance regarding such rules, they may open a help support ticket or contact moderators (they are specific members dedicated to maintaining civil discourse) with the issue.
Does Discord or the being involved in MHSDC cost anything?
No, there are Discord upgrades that may cost money, but being involved with MHSDC does not come at any expense to you.
Can I ever leave MHSDC if I don’t want to be involved anymore?
Of course! And if you wish to rejoin, feel free to reach out to MHSDC.help@gmail.com
