Welcome!
This website serves as a central location for all things Mountain Home Percussion. From materials for class, to pictures and videos from performances, to more general resources, take a look around and you may find inspiration where you least expect it.
Looking Ahead: Week of 3/30
Please make sure to fill out the google form that I sent out via Remind and on the Band App. I need these questions answered so that I know for sure what the plan is regarding the UCA Day of Percussion. I will get an itinerary together for this event as soon as I receive a schedule for the day.
Drumline and Front Ensemble Camp is starting THIS WEEK after school. No more lessons with the younger students. Drumline is meeting on Tuesdays after school until 5. Front ensemble meeting Thursdays after school until 5. Copies of everything will be available. Please keep up with your stuff.
Everything regarding summer band and the fall marching season has been added to the google calendar. I have shared this calendar with everyone including 8th graders. Please check your email to find it. If you have an alternate email you need it sent to or a parent email, let me know. You can import this to your google calendar app on your phone, and it will update anytime I update it. This calendar will always be available at the bottom of this website home page as well.
Be looking ahead toward the summer dates. There will be a hard deadline later this semester that any known absences need to be communicated. This standard needs to start so that we can operate more efficiently.
Expect homework assignments this summer. I will try to meet with sub sectionals some throughout the summer before our drumline camp. Stronger individual accountability is what will take us to the next level.
There are playalong recordings of all drumline exercises on the marching percussion page on this website.
New concert band music will be handed out tomorrow. I've done my best to assign parts so that everyone has a role while not being overwhelmed. If you're frustrated about not getting a certain part, ask yourself a few questions: 1. How many people was Mr. Hufford trying to manage as he assigned these parts? 2. How long do we have to prepare for this concert? 3. Would I be able to perform this part within a few practices so that we don't have to stress over it for the next several weeks?
My hope is that we can spend minimal time practicing these parts and split our time between band and prepping for marching band next year. I am going to do my very best to make sure that everyone has a meaningful role next year.
Have a wonderful evening. Can't wait to see everyone tomorrow!
