In 2021, I had the privilege of presenting my research paper, "Trends and Prevalence of Acute Respiratory Infections in Children Under Five in Ethiopia: Data from EDHS 2000-2016," at the 32nd Annual Conference of the Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA). This event brought together experts and thought leaders to discuss pressing public health issues, offering a platform to share my findings with a diverse and engaged audience.
My presentation focused on analyzing two decades of data to uncover key trends and insights into acute respiratory infections among children under five—a significant public health challenge in Ethiopia. I used compelling visuals and data storytelling techniques to ensure clarity and impact, connecting complex statistics to real-world implications for policy and healthcare interventions.
Engaging with experts at EPHA reinforced my passion for driving meaningful change through evidence-based research. This achievement underscores my ability to blend research, communication, and storytelling—a critical combination for advancing projects and driving strategic decisions in health and beyond.
COVID-19 commitment recognition
July 2020
I have been recognized for delivering impactful results in data analysis, quality assurance, and reporting, particularly during critical periods.
Notably, I contributed voluntarily to the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) COVID-19 response team, where I played a pivotal role in managing real-time data on COVID-19 cases and suspected individuals. My work involved detailed analysis, forecasting trends, and preparing evidence-based briefs that informed the Ministry of Health’s policy decisions.
By combining analytical expertise with a commitment to timely reporting, I helped shape effective strategies to address the pandemic, showcasing my ability to apply data-driven insights to solve real-world challenges.

Us Police Brutality - Poster presentation
July 2022
During my time at the CSSS 569 Visualizing Data and Models course at the University of Washington, I presented a comprehensive analysis group project titled: "Police Brutality in the USA: Trends, Burden, and Comparisons by Race, Encounter Type, State, and Age Group."
This project exemplifies my ability to leverage advanced data visualization and analysis techniques to translate complex datasets into clear, impactful narratives. By crafting thoughtfully designed charts and color-coded visualizations, I made the data accessible to all audiences, including non-specialists. The visualizations highlighted critical insights, such as disparities in police encounters by race, age, and location, offering a compelling overview without requiring an in-depth understanding of the methodology.
The experience not only honed my technical skills in data analysis and and vizualization but also reinforced my ability to communicate findings effectively. This work demonstrates my talent for using data storytelling to inform, engage, and drive understanding across diverse audiences—a vital skill in any data-driven role.
Thesis - Presentation at Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
Sep 2023
I had the privilege of presenting my capstone thesis, "Comparison of Methods Used to Estimate the Global Burden of Disease Related to Malaria Mortality at Global, Regional, and Country Levels," at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. This experience allowed me to engage with high-ranking officials, public health experts, and strategic team members in an interactive session.
The Q&A session provided an invaluable platform to discuss findings, align perspectives, and refine approaches to tackling global malaria challenges. This opportunity highlighted my ability to translate complex data into actionable insights, contributing meaningfully to the public health domain.
