MGM Elective
The University of Calgary holds an exciting mass gathering medicine elective for medical students and residents. July 2022 was piloted for 4 residents. Since July 2023, the elective has been approved for medical students. Each year, the elective can accomodate up to 3 trainees. This is a packed elective that requires night shifts from 5pm-2:30am/3am most dates in the first two weeks of July. Other elective completion requirements include the creation and facilitation of one in-situ simulation for the event medical crew and the production of one educational podcast related to the field of mass gathering medicine. We are looking for enthusiastic, positive, people that enjoy energetic atmospheres, working with interdisciplinary teams in low resource environments, and learning from and teaching others. Finally, those who would be a good fit for the elective and our team would align with the PLUR culture at electronic dance music festivals--"peace, love, unity, respect". If this sounds good to you, please reach out to the elective supervisor, Anthony, at anthony.seto@ucalgary.ca to be considered for an elective.
