While the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) has many opportunities for learning, this can be hindered by fast-paced and complex care. We developed a standardized list of topics (a “PICU Passport”) based off of American Academy of Pediatrics Educational Goals to create shared teaching responsibility among residents, fellows and attendings. Residents who used the Passport for 4 weeks reported similar confidence levels in management of core conditions as those who had rotated for 8 weeks without it, suggesting that this tool may enhance learning. Residents who used the passport also reported an increase in teaching.
