I’m honored to serve as your Club President and excited for the year ahead. First, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Mike Jones for his leadership and service to our club. His commitment helped build a strong foundation and sense of community that we will continue to build upon. On behalf of the Board and our members, we sincerely appreciate the time, energy, and care he brought to his role and the knowledge transfer effort that continues.
As we turn the page to a new season, I’m inspired by the mission and vision of U.S. Figure Skating—“USFS exists to create and cultivate opportunities for participation and achievement in figure skating. Together, we foster fun and inspire a lifelong passion for skating while developing champions on and off the ice.” This mission resonates deeply with my desire to build a supportive community where every skater can grow, thrive, and find joy both on and off the ice. I’m excited about our new Board of Directors and confident we can steer the club effectively to provide meaningful opportunities for our members.
As we look ahead to an exciting year filled with performances, competitions, and community-building events, I'm reminded that the success of our club relies not only on our skaters’ dedication but also on the generosity of our members' time and talents. By staying fiscally responsible and working together as volunteers, we can continue to offer enriching experiences for all. Whether it’s helping at an event, sharing your skills, or offering a few hours of your time, every contribution makes a difference and strengthens the heart of our skating community. Let's make it fun and celebrate what brings us together with excitement, pride, and unity!
Yours in skating,
Wendy Barnard

Upcoming board meetings
Our next Board Meeting will be Aug 7th at 7:15 PM. If you have a topic we should explore, please email it to MemorialFSCH@gmail.com.
Catherine Ridley is an adult skater who began her skating journey in College Station while attending Texas A&M University. She relocated to Houston last year and joined MFSCH, where she was elected to the board.
With a professional background in social and digital media, Catherine is now leading the MFSCH social media efforts — and we’re excited to have her on board! Catherine is passionate about highlighting our club and its talented skaters, so feel free to send her any skating content you’d like to share.
You’ll also see her at many club-sanctioned events, where she’ll be capturing photos and videos to showcase the spirit and skill of our skating community. If you have any questions, please reach out to Catherine at socials.mfsch@gmail.com.
Howdy, Skaters and Parents! We are excited to announce the beginning of our Skater Spotlight Series on social media. We are planning to create regular social media posts showcasing our club skaters based on content you submit.
Please use this form to submit photos and videos of you or your skater to be published on the club Instagram and Facebook. Any skating content is appreciated, especially fun on-ice videos, pictures, passed tests, etc.
You can submit as many times as you would like, but please keep in mind that we will do our best to spotlight each athlete equally, and not everything submitted is guaranteed to be used. If you have any questions or concerns, please email Catherine Ridley at socials.mfsch@gmail.com.
The National Qualifying Series (NQS) is the first stage of the U.S. Figure Skating singles, pairs, and ice dance qualifying pipelines. NQS is comprised of nonqualifying competitions between mid-July and early October. Athletes participating in the juvenile, intermediate, novice, junior, and senior levels can have the scores they earn at these designated competitions count toward the overall NQS standings.
The final NQS standings will be used to determine which individual athletes/teams will advance to the NQS Finals and eventually the U.S. Figure Skating Championships (junior and senior) or National High Performance Development Team (juvenile – novice). We are looking forward to continued success of our skaters!

Similar to collegiate skating, the high school program offers skaters the opportunity to compete on a team for their high school. Several states/regions host a high school series and a state final, and any high school team is eligible to enter the U.S. Figure Skating National High School Cyber Challenge or Sectional High School Finals.
Team
The USFS mission of the HS Team program is to support student athletes during high school as their chosen sport is figure skating as opposed to another varsity-type sport.
Team members do not need to be affiliated with or sponsored by a local high school
There are teams that represent a high school and also teams that represent a region.
Season
The High School season for U.S. Figure Skating runs from Oct 1, 2025 - Sep 30, 2026. Most competitions are held October - April.
Registration starts on Sep 1, 2025.
Are you interested in joining the team? Check out Instagram @Memorial.Ice.Starz or email Memorial.IceStarz@gmail.com for more information by Aug 5th, 2025.
Our club is committed to providing a safe and positive environment for all members.
