Seminar-Orientation Empowers Participants in Utilizing Economic Data for Informed Fiscal Management

Cotabato City, June 8-9, 2023 - The Seminar-Orientation on Effective Utilization of Economic Data for Informed Fiscal Management concluded with resounding success at Nursalam Hall, Alnor Convention Centre. The event aimed to equip participants with a better understanding of the significance of economic data in fiscal management, introduce various data sources and their applications, foster skills in statistical analysis, and promote informed decision-making through the interpretation of economic data. The seminar also provided a platform for sharing best practices and challenges in utilizing economic data within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). 

Over 34 participants from four sectoral offices of the Ministry attended the seminar-orientation, representing divisions and sections from the Office of the Minister, Bangsamoro Finance Office, Bangsamoro Budget Office, and Bangsamoro Treasury Office. Distinguished keynote speakers, Professor Acram Latiph and Professor Harvey M. Niere, added immense value to the seminar-orientation. 

Professor Laptiph led the discussion on the BARMM Economy providing valuable insights into the economic landscape of the BARMM region, and the utilization of economic data in government operations. A workshop session enabled participants to express their perceptions regarding the use and importance of economic data.

Meanwhile, Professor Niere discussed the Descriptive Statistics and Data Visualization, which delved into the importance of statistical analysis and data visualization techniques. A workshop session on the navigation and application of Stata software complemented this topic. Professor Niere also tackled the Inferential Statistics and Data Analysis with workshop session on the navigation and application of Stata software, providing practical training on data analysis techniques.

The overwhelming feedback from participants indicated that the seminar met their expectations and was relevant and beneficial to their professional field or personal interests. 

Overall, the Seminar-Orientation on Effective Utilization of Economic Data for Informed Fiscal Management provided valuable insights and practical skills to participants, fostering improved practices in utilizing economic data within the BARMM region.
