Economics Division and PSA-BARMM Foster Cooperation to Enhance Data Accuracy and Forecasts

Cotabato City, May 03, 2023 - The Economics Division, headed by Ms. Noraida Macapantar, held a courtesy meeting with the Philippine Statistics Authority BARMM, led by OIC Director Engr. Akan Tula. The purpose of the meeting was to explore avenues for collaboration to ensure informed and accurate forecasts of the Economics Division.

During the meeting, both the Economics Division and PSA-BARMM shared their respective accomplishments, milestones, and ongoing projects and initiatives. This dialogue provided a comprehensive understanding of the work carried out by each body and set the stage for potential collaborations.

One of the key topics of discussion revolved around current economic data trends and forecasts. The Economics Division and PSA-BARMM exchanged  insights and perspectives to gain a deeper understanding of the economic landscape in the region. By this knowledge and expertise, the team aim to improve the accuracy of their forecasts in support to the Ministry's fiscal planning and policy development agenda. 

The courtesy meeting was also attended by Mr. Edward Donald Eloja, the OIC Chief of the Statistical Operations and Coordination Division, and Mr. Naldo Pendaliday, the OIC Chief of the Maguindanao Provincial Office Statistical Specialist. Also present was Mr. Alameda Hajim Andong, the Chief of Budget Policy and Strategy Division (BPSD) of the Bangsamoro Budget Office. Their presence highlighted the significance of this cooperative effort and the commitment to facilitating data accuracy and informed decision-making within the region.

Ms. Macapantar expressed her gratitude for the fruitful exchange of ideas and looked forward to building a stronger partnership between the Economics Division and PSA-BARMM. OIC Director Engr. Akan Tula echoed his sentiments, emphasizing the importance of collaboration to harness the full potential of data for the benefit of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The courtesy meeting concluded on a positive note, with both committed to continuing their cooperation and exploring additional areas of collaboration. By leveraging PSA-BARMM expertise and resources, the Economics Division aim to contribute significantly to the development and growth of the BARMM economy while ensuring accurate and reliable forecasts.
