Hailing from Santa Monica, California, Student Name (b. 20xx) is one of those people who never stops questioning everything. Numerous past and present Linfield faculty can attest to this. To name a few: Victoria Gunn, with whom she studied violin; Anton Belov, Hannah Penn, and Rebecca Fromherz, in the voice department; Andrea Reinkemeyer, in composition and theory. At Linfield, Student’s fascination with language – whether comprised of words or otherwise – led her to pursue a double major in Creative Writing and Music. She plans to graduate in Fall 2019 after completing a project that focuses on the intertwining of music, text, and the in-between, through the field of songwriting. Student’s other interests include French language and literature, marine ecology and biology, nail art, and playing the violin (but hopefully not all at once!)
Music and the Technological Revolution Program 2019
Student Name (b.20xx) is a senior at Linfield College, pursuing dual degrees in music and computer science. His musical career began with violin in the fifth grade, which he played until the tenth grade. In the tenth grade, he joined Tualatin High School’s concert choir, and subsequently auditioned into the Crimsonnaires, a selective chamber choir. In his senior year of high school he served as president of the Tualatin choir program.
At Linfield College, he joined the Concert Choir and later the Wildcat Men’s Glee Club. During his time at Linfield, he has served as a section leader, equipment manager, treasurer, and now president of the choir. Through Linfield’s Department of Music, he has worked as a student researcher in computational musicology, and interned as a program coordinator with the Castleman Quartet Program. He began composing in his second year at Linfield. As a composer, his focus has been on minimalism, emergent patterns, and electronic music; he hopes to continue to find new and interesting ways to combine the two branches of his studies.
