Yang YANG 杨扬

Currently, I am a University Professor (校聘教授) of School of Automation, Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology.

I was born in Jiangsu, China and received Bachelor's and Master's degree both from Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) in 2011 and 2013 respectively. During Master's period, I was a lab member of the State Key Laboratories of Robotic Systems, HIT, China. At HIT, my research was mainly focused on minimally invasive surgical robot, in particular, the master manipulator of the surgical robot.

I got my PhD degree from Department of Mechanical Engineering, the University of Hong Kong (HKU) in 2017. During PhD study, I investigated the application of additive manufacturing and smart materials in soft robotics field, to make robots with better performance. I worked as a Post-doctoral Fellow at Prof. Michael Y. Wang's group in HKUST Robotics Institute from Feb. 2018 to Mar. 2020.

Educated in three leading institutions in Hong Kong and mainland China, I have developed an international horizon and knowledge.  My research interests include soft robotics, artificial muscles, smart materials, sensing and additive manufacturing. 

In my spare time, I like practicing traditional chinese calligraphy (Liu Gongquan Style).
