Dr. Nicholas Nissirios is the creator and director of Metro Eye MD, LASIK clinics in Astoria and Bayside, New York. Dr. Nissirios is a board certified Ophthalmologist specializing in Cataract, Cornea Transplantation and Refractive Surgery.

He completed his medical school training at the University of Athens Medical School in Greece, followed by a 2-year post-doctoral research fellowship in Glaucoma at Mount Sinai Medical Center in NY and an Internal Medicine internship at Albert Einstein/Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY

Dr. Katherine Ilyayev is a licensed optometrist providing comprehensive eye care at Metro Eye MD. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from St. John’s University, and then earned her doctorate from SUNY College of Optometry. Dr. Ilyayev is a highly dedicated optometrist, committed to providing  personalized and high-quality patient care. Throughout her training,  she placed a strong emphasis on ocular disease, surgical co-management, and speciality contact lenses. She has experience in treating and managing various ocular conditions including glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, allergic conjunctivitis, and dry eye disease. She also has a special interest in myopia management and uses orthokeratology, soft multifocal contacts, and low-dose atropine to slow the progression of nearsightedness in children.

Dr. Sarah Taj is a dedicated and licensed optometrist graduating with a Bachelor of Science from Macaulay Honors College, who pursued advanced education at the SUNY College of Optometry to earn a Doctorate in Optometry. Passionate about integrating new technology into practice, Dr. Taj utilizes innovative tools such as Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy to treat dry eye conditions effectively. Their expertise extends to treating a variety of ocular conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, allergic conjunctivitis, and dry eye disease, Dr.Taj provides thorough and compassionate care to each patient
