Our lecturers have been teaching and advising over 850 postgraduate, PhD students and researchers through supervision and teaching at University College London, London School of Economics & Political Science, Queen Mary University of London, Imperial College London and Kings College London (through the London Interdisciplinary Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership).
Ruth has a background in psychology and completed her PhD in applied health research in 2019 at UCL department of primary care and population health, where she is currently a senior research fellow.
Prior to her PhD, she has also been a researcher for two health charities: The Anna Freud Centre and Young People vs Cancer.
Ruth’s PhD was a mixed methods evaluation of a digital intervention for medical education.
Her research interests are in social media and young people’s mental health, mixed methods research and evaluations of digital interventions.
Ruth was recently funded by an NIHR Three Schools’ Mental Health Programme Fellowship at UCL. Her research explores the impacts of social media on young people's mental health and and how concerns about the negative effects of social media on young people’s mental health are managed. Ruth is also supported by the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration North Thames as part of the mental health theme. Ruth has reported on her research, and research in this area, in The Conversation.
Ruth is an experienced research supervisor and teacher, and lectures on the MSc Population Health at UCL and has an FHEA teaching qualification.
Sarah is a CAPE (Capabilities in Academic Policy Engagement) Policy Fellow at the Greater London Authority, working within the City Intelligence Unit. Her role is to mobilise academic knowledge in London, and beyond.
Sarah is also research fellow in health and social care at the LSE Care Policy and Evaluation Centre. She is part of CPEC’s partnership in the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration North Thames, as a member of the ARC-NT’s Research Partnership Team; and as such is also affiliated with the UCL Department of Applied Health Research (Insitute of Epidemiology and Health Care). She is a mixed-methods researcher with experience in complex evaluations in mental health, social care and health services; with special interests in realist evaluations, theory of change development and process evaluations.
Sarah holds a BSc (Joint Honours) in Biology and Management as well as an MPH and a PhD from Imperial College London. Sarah is a course convenor and tutor on multiple courses for the London Interdisciplinary Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership, and has an FHEA teaching qualification.
Sarah has a particular interest in inequalities - having led 'The Lost Voices' national campaign in 2021 - which gathered researchers’ experiences of inequalities and prejudices, with the aim of improving current equality standards within research cultures in the UK.
