Short Bio
Dr. Tanmay Bhowmik is a young academic researcher with interests mainly in emerging research areas such as Nanophotonics, Metamaterials, Heterogeneous Photonics–Electronics Integration, Semiconductor Optoelectronics, Integrated Silicon Photonics, and Light–Matter Interactions at the Nanoscale.
Hailing from a small town in the hilly state of Tripura, in the remote northeastern part of India, he developed a strong motivation to pursue higher education and research at the national and international levels. He received the B.E. degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from Tripura University, Agartala, India, in 2013 and the M. Tech degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology in 2016. From 2017 to 2018, he worked as a Research Project Associate in the Electrical Engineering Department at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, India.
He joined the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, India, as a full-time Ph.D. Scholar in July 2018. He submitted his doctoral thesis in August 2024 and moved to Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, where he served as a postdoctoral research fellow on nanophotonics & advanced microscopy until March 2026.
In June 2026, he moved to India, joining the Center for VLSI and Embedded Systems Technology (CVEST) at IIIT Hyderabad as an Assistant Professor.
