MetaMask is one of the most widely used crypto wallets, enabling users to store digital assets, interact with decentralized applications (dApps), and access DeFi platforms. While the MetaMask wallet itself is great for sending, receiving, and storing tokens, the MetaMask Portfolio feature takes it a step further by giving users a powerful dashboard to track and manage their assets across multiple chains.
In this post, we’ll explain what MetaMask Portfolio is, why it’s useful, and how you can manage your portfolio effectively.
MetaMask Portfolio is an optional feature available through the MetaMask ecosystem that allows you to view and track all your crypto assets in one place—across various accounts and networks.
Instead of checking multiple wallets, block explorers, or DeFi platforms, you can use the MetaMask Portfolio dashboard to:
View your total net worth across wallets
Track token balances, including ERC-20s and NFTs
Monitor real-time market prices
View your transaction history
Access DeFi positions and staking information
Track assets on multiple blockchains (Ethereum, Polygon, BNB Chain, Optimism, Arbitrum, and more)
MetaMask Portfolio offers a clean and interactive interface for crypto users who want better visibility and control over their digital finances.
Multi-Chain Support
You can track assets across various Ethereum-compatible blockchains from one dashboard.
Multiple Accounts in One View
If you use several MetaMask wallets, you can add them all to the portfolio and monitor everything at once.
NFT Viewer
A built-in NFT tab allows you to view your non-fungible tokens with images and metadata.
Transaction Tracker
MetaMask Portfolio logs your recent transactions, including token swaps, gas fees, and transfers.
DeFi Integration
Some DeFi platforms are integrated directly into the portfolio, enabling you to monitor open positions like lending, staking, or yield farming.
Fiat Value Estimates
The dashboard shows your portfolio value in your local currency (USD, EUR, etc.), making it easier to understand your holdings at a glance.
Accessing your MetaMask Portfolio is simple:
Open MetaMask (Browser or App)
Click the “Portfolio” button (or go to https://portfolio.metamask.io/)
Connect your wallet to the site
Once connected, your portfolio will automatically display token balances and activity
You can also add other wallets (read-only) by inputting their public address or ENS domain, which is useful for managing multiple accounts or watching wallets.
Managing your portfolio is all about organization, monitoring, and security. Here are a few tips:
Add Multiple Wallets or Accounts
If you use different wallets for trading, holding, or NFTs, you can add them all to the Portfolio view for a unified overview.
To do this:
Go to the MetaMask Portfolio page
Click “Add Account” or “Watch Address”
Paste in the wallet address or ENS name
Switch Networks Easily
MetaMask Portfolio automatically supports Ethereum and Layer 2s like Arbitrum and Optimism. You can switch between networks to view balances specific to that blockchain.
Use the dropdown menu to select a network and see your assets per chain.
Track Token Performance
The dashboard shows token prices and historical changes. This makes it easier to monitor gains, losses, and rebalance your portfolio if needed.
Use the NFT Viewer
Click the NFT tab to view your non-fungible tokens by collection. It pulls metadata and images directly from the blockchain or supported marketplaces.
Monitor DeFi and Staking Positions
If you’ve staked tokens or provided liquidity in DeFi protocols, some of those positions may be visible in the Portfolio interface. This helps you avoid forgetting about passive income streams.
Note: Not all DeFi protocols are integrated yet, so it may not capture 100% of your positions automatically.
Export and Review Transactions
You can check your transaction history, see which tokens you’ve received or sent, and track your gas fees. This is useful for accounting, taxes, or just keeping an eye on spending.
Label your wallets: Use custom names for different accounts (e.g., “NFT Wallet”, “Trading Wallet”) to keep things organized.
Regularly back up your seed phrases: Even if MetaMask Portfolio is just for viewing, ensure wallet backups are safe.
Diversify your assets: Spread across stablecoins, blue-chip tokens, and different blockchains to reduce risk.
Use a hardware wallet: For high-value holdings, connect MetaMask to a Ledger or Trezor for added security.
MetaMask Portfolio is a powerful extension to the MetaMask experience, offering a comprehensive way to monitor and manage your digital assets. Whether you’re just holding ETH or deeply involved in DeFi and NFTs, this dashboard gives you a clear, centralized view of your crypto life.
It’s easy to use, integrates seamlessly with your existing MetaMask wallet, and adds a professional touch to crypto asset tracking. By staying organized and security-conscious, you can confidently manage your MetaMask portfolio as the Web3 ecosystem continues to grow.
