Welcome to Metal Map Support. This page provides help, troubleshooting tips, and important information about using Metal Map.

Metal Map is a magnetic anomaly scanner that uses your iPhone’s built-in magnetic field sensor to help detect changes in the magnetic field near walls, floors, and objects.

Getting Started

1. Open Metal Map.

2. Complete the onboarding.

3. Calibrate the sensor by moving your iPhone in a figure-eight motion.

4. Slowly move your iPhone near the wall, floor, or object you want to scan.

5. Watch the live signal graph and signal percentage.

6. Use AR mode to mark detected points.

7. Build a room map and export a PDF report if needed.

Calibration Help

Calibration helps Metal Map measure the local magnetic background before scanning.

For best results:

• Move the iPhone slowly in a figure-eight motion.

• Keep the phone away from large metal objects during calibration.

• Remove magnetic cases, MagSafe accessories, or metal attachments if possible.

• Avoid calibrating near speakers, laptops, power adapters, or large appliances.

• Recalibrate when moving to a different room or wall.

If calibration does not complete, move to a less noisy area and try again.

Why Does Metal Map React to Concrete Walls?

Many concrete or monolithic walls contain steel reinforcement bars or metal mesh. These materials can create strong magnetic anomalies, so Metal Map may show a strong signal near reinforced concrete.

This is expected behavior and does not necessarily mean there is an electrical wire at that location.

Can Metal Map Detect Electrical Wires?

Metal Map may show a possible electrical source when it detects a pulsing magnetic signal. However, this depends on many factors:

• Whether current is flowing through the wire

• The distance between the phone and the wire

• Wall thickness and wall material

• Nearby metal reinforcement

• Sensor noise and environmental interference

Copper and aluminum wires without current may not be visible to the iPhone magnetometer.

Metal Map is not a certified electrical tester. Always use proper certified tools before drilling, cutting, or performing electrical work.

Best Scanning Tips

For better results:

• Move slowly.

• Keep the iPhone close to the surface.

• Recalibrate before scanning a new area.

• Remove magnetic phone cases or MagSafe accessories.

• Use Wire Focus mode when looking for possible powered electrical lines.

• Use Metal mode when looking for steel, iron, or reinforcement.

• Scan the same area from multiple directions.

• Mark only strong and repeatable signals.

Subscription Help

Metal Map Premium unlocks advanced scanning features, AR heatmap points, room mapping, and PDF export.

Subscriptions are managed by Apple through your App Store account.

To manage or cancel your subscription:

1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.

2. Tap your Apple ID at the top.

3. Tap Subscriptions.

4. Select Metal Map.

5. Manage, change, or cancel your subscription.

If you purchased Premium but the app does not recognize it, tap Restore Purchases inside the paywall.

Refunds

All purchases and refunds are handled by Apple.

We cannot issue refunds directly because App Store purchases are processed by Apple.
