Metadata Remover (Android app, package com.ajtech.metadataremover)
Developer: AnjneyaTech
Effective date: 30 September 2026
In short: the app cleans your files entirely on your device. It has no internet permission, so it cannot upload, send or share anything on its own. We do not collect, store on servers, sell or share any personal data. There are no accounts, ads, analytics or trackers.
1. What the app does
Metadata Remover shows and removes hidden information ("metadata") from photos, videos, audio files and documents, such as GPS location, camera model, dates and author names, so you can share files without revealing that information.
2. Data we collect
None. The app does not collect personal data and does not transmit any data to us or to third parties. It does not request the internet permission, and it contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking software.
3. Files you choose
The app only reads files you pick yourself (through the Android file picker or the share menu) or files in folders you explicitly allow for automatic cleaning. Files are processed on your device. A cleaned copy is created and, depending on what you choose, saved to your device, shared with an app you pick, or used to replace the original. Nothing is sent anywhere by the app itself. When you share a cleaned file, it goes only to the app you select.
4. Data stored on your device
To work, the app keeps a small amount of data in its private storage on your phone. Other apps cannot read it, it is excluded from cloud backup and device-to-device transfer, and it is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
- Temporary cleaned copies: used to share or save the cleaned file; deleted automatically, at the latest after 24 hours.
- Settings (theme, options, chosen folders): used to remember your preferences; kept until you change them or uninstall.
- Automatic-cleaning history (file name, time, number of items removed): used for the History screen; a limited list kept until you uninstall or clear data.
- Original copies (only if "Keep originals" is turned on): used so you can restore a file after automatic cleaning; kept for the period you choose in Settings (7 days by default), then deleted.
5. Permissions
- Photo location access (ACCESS_MEDIA_LOCATION): lets the app see and remove the GPS location in photos you pick; Android hides it otherwise.
- Storage (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, Android 12 and older only): to read the files you select.
- Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS, optional): to tell you when automatic cleaning has cleaned files.
- Run at startup and background work (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED, FOREGROUND_SERVICE, WAKE_LOCK, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): used by Android's WorkManager so optional automatic cleaning keeps working after a restart. The network-state permission is added by WorkManager; the app has no internet access.
You can revoke permissions at any time in Android Settings.
6. Google Play
If you install the app from Google Play, Google may collect information (for example, install and crash statistics) under Google's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. We only see aggregated, anonymous statistics that Google provides to developers.
7. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
8. Security
Because all processing happens on your device and nothing is transmitted, your files never leave your control through this app. Data kept in the app's private storage is protected by Android's app sandbox.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
