Hey @gsternbe, at the moment there's no way to pair the controllers without using the mobile app. In regards to your issue with logging in, what type of phone are you using? Apple or Android? Another user on this board had the exact same issue when trying to log in and pair with an Apple device, so I wanna see if it's a trending issue with iOS devices.

Over a year later and the issues with missing app libraries have NOT been resolved. Now the even more frustrating issue of not being able to log into the meta quest app has rendered many users headsets completely useless. Can you say CLASS ACTION? Who's with me?

Hi. I have Meta Quest 2 VR goggles. I buy games in the Meta mobile application. Unfortunately, they are not in the Meta app for PC. Is it possible to transfer them from mobile applications to PC applications or do I have to buy them again? I am logged into the same Meta account in the mobile app and in the PC app. Thanks in advance...

The Meta web login shows my old Rift purchases but I also believe there are a few quest apps in there too under the Quest heading. Has anyone run into this situation where the mobile apps just hangs?

Hi there @rayzwastaken, we see you are having issues uploading a profile picture from the mobile app. Being able to use a custom photo to express yourself is something we highly encourage, and we understand the importance of getting this functionality working for you!

So, first, trying using the link only allows you to use a facebook or instagram account, which I dont have either of, and arent attached to my meta account. The picture is not large at all only being 620 kb, and its a simple png. Finally, I have tried uploading the image onto other places, including the forums (on my profile picture and attached to this post), and had no issues whatsover.

We appreciate these details, @rayzwastaken! After further looking into this concern, updating the profile photo does appear to be a feature granted when the account is linked with a Facebook or Instagram. Since the account does not have one currently linked, this is why, when going through our steps provided one is being requested. I was having issues with my Quest 2 that didn't allow me to play online games saying that I was not connected to the internet, but I was. So I did a factory reset. Now it wont even let me connect my phone to my Quest 2 saying it cant pair. I have deleted my data so to remove the quest from my phone, but wont let me re connect it saying it can not pair. I check my wifi restarted it many times and the wifi is fine but it still wont connect and my phone is also connected to my wifi and my wifi is connected to my quest 2 also.. Please any help would be greatly appreciated.

This solution will work on PC computer (Windows).

For mobile devices please see the reference to a forum in FB near the bottom of this message, where I have posted the name of a technical group which has just been set up, they can probably help with directing you to a video to try and connect the headset to a mobile handset or iPad.

I can confirm (after chatting to someone in the know!) that when the RMA headsets are shipped, the code (firmware) is V42, (version 42). - Meta have upgraded their new units (or stock units) to V44 (version 44).

The mobile apps are also now only communicating to V43/V44 devices, so therefore receiving a V42 RMA refurbished unit will NOT (NEVER) connect to the V44 mobile app.

You need access to a PC (Computer), and download the relevant applications, there is no "install" on the PC, the two links below just download the two zip files.

First: Rename the file from step 1 to the name update.zip (make sure you have Windows Files Extensions enabled so you can see the .ZIP extension)

Second: Download the Android Debugger Bridge from step 5 on your PC to allow it to communicate the Headset. 

You do NOT need to do anything with your mobile phone or try and link this to the PC Computer.

All you need is to downloaded the ZIP files for the Android Debugger Bridge so don't follow any instructions on trying to link your phone to your PC.

Just download the correct ZIP file for your PC Windows Version once done follow the numbered steps below.

You need a full USB-A to USB-C cable.

You can also use the cable supplied with the Quest 2, or if you don't have it you can buy a good quality USB-A to USB-C cable from most online retailers fairly cheaply!

Once it has updated, you need to try and add it under the mobile app, using Devices in your app account, then "+" to add new device, pick Quest 2, then try and let it pair, it will show the code and then key that in the app, if it fails, don't try again, back out the "Try Again", touch the image of the headset in the top section, use the back < arrow to go back to Devices, pick the Quest 2 go forward to prompt for the code (amended CK 4th Oct 2022).

It might respond on the app its Paired or it might reboot and update again, it might even show the code prompt for a while, but the app should show Paired. It will probably update in the app with the serial number.

Once done, add the controllers, (in the app using the Add left and Add Right) and it will probably run through the video intro then reboot again. Once done the code message will vanish.

Mobile Devices connection to the headset

I do not know how to use an Android or Apple iPhone to Quest 2, but from what I understand a normal USB cable will not work, and has to be an OTG cable. (not sure about Apple for OTG) - I can't help with these requests as i don't have a OTG cable and also don't know enough about interfacing a smartphone to a headset. I would suggest checking a new forum in FB Called : Oculus/Meta Quest 2 Repair and Technical.

Meta / Oculus support are saying this is a Emerging problem, but its the firmware on the unit on V42 that is the issue, and it should be upgraded by them before shipping and I suspect its been missed.

O wow Chris I'm sooooo thankful for finding this article. Ur a genius! So if I don't have a PC I'm screwed!? And that's on meta!? What should I do? I've been waiting 5 weeks and all meta says is we are working on it. I have tried everything possible between android phone and the RMA headset including downloading debugging apps for my android Motorola stylus. But not sure what to do at that point. So there is no way to upgrade the firmware without a PC? I think I need to make a call to meta right now! Thank you again for this article

So i did a factory reset and now when i am asked for the 5 figure pairing code to pair with my mobile phone i am getting the message 'Headset already linked to your Meta account' .... etc. and will not let me progress any further.

I have a quest 1 that I used for a while and it worked normally. Yesterday I turned on app-sharing and added a second account to the headset and after testing something I deleted the second account again. After that, my Quest 1 was not showing up in the mobile App anymore for the main account. (wanted to enable Dev. mode again) I tried reconnecting (adding a new device), did a factory reset, installed the app, tried another Oculus account, tried another phone but it always displays this message [shown in the picture] after trying to connect vie the 5 digit code. Right now the headset is completely unusable because I cannot complete the initial connection to the app that is required. So I need a fix as soon as possible.

I bought a new oculus quest 1 for my birthday and its stuck at the enter pairing code on your phone screen, it just wont go away no matter what i do, my brother recommended me to find firmware update 28 29 and 30 but theyre lost forever, it has the latest firmware update 43 on it and it still has the same issue, we tried diffrent phones, diffrent meta accounts, nothing works!

Heya, I've tried to hard reset the headset and uninstall and reinstall the app on my phone just like you told me to, I even switched devices, 4 times to be exact, and none of them seemed to work. It still shows the "headset not found" Message, even though I already put in the correct 5 digit code from my headset. Strangely enough the app knows that I own an oculus quest 1, but it won't detect the headset, despite it being placed right next to my phone. A solution for this, that is effective, would be highly appreciated, thx.

Hello there, @Gr33nW0lf! We know the space your media can take up on the Meta Quest mobile app can be a lot, so we're glad to help shed some light on this issue! Deleting a file with media synching turned off would only delete it immediately on the headset, since the headset would no longer be synched to the Meta Quest mobile app. To clarify, since the headset isn't connected, it should take around 14 days for those files to automatically delete from the Meta Quest mobile app. Keep in mind that these files shouldn't take up any space on your actual phone, unless they are specifically downloaded from the mobile app. We hope this clears up this situation a bit!
