This study was presented at the Autumn Conference of The Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences (KICS) held in Gyeongju, Republic of Korea in 2023 and awarded the best Undergraduate Paper Award. The award was presented to the first author Seokho Kim, an undergraduate researcher of Prof. Wonjae Shin.
In this study, we design a GUI simulator for downlink scenarios between Low-Earth orbit satellites and users using MATLAB App Designer, and perform Throughput and Outage Probability analyses based on signal-to-noise ratio considering the satellite's elevation that changes over time and Doppler Shift analysis through Elevation Angle.
This study was presented at the Summer Conference of The Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences (KICS) held in Jeju, Republic of Korea in 2022 and awarded the best English Paper Award.
This study investigates the performance behavior of Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS)-aided Low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite networks based on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), where the satellite communicates to the ground user through only RIS with multiple reflecting elements. By considering the high mobility of LEO satellite, we address Doppler shift occurred in the satellite-RIS link. We propose using RIS between the satellite and ground user to overcome the performance degradation caused by the Doppler shift in the satellite link.
