Welcome to MessUp. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the MessUp mobile application. MessUp is designed strictly as a dining and mess management platform. We are committed to protecting your personal data and ensuring transparency about our practices.
We only collect the information you explicitly provide to us to ensure the core functionality of the app. We do not track your precise GPS location, collect your IP address in the background, or use silent analytics/crash reporters.
The data we collect includes:
Account Information: Your phone number, full name, and Employee ID used for registration and identification.
Dining Data: Your meal subscriptions, daily dietary preferences (Veg/Non-Veg), and extra item orders.
User-Generated Content: Any feedback you submit (including images), chat messages sent within the app, and responses to mess polls.
Device Information: Push notification tokens (FCM tokens) strictly to send you alerts regarding meal cut-offs, announcements, and friend requests.
Your data is used exclusively to operate and improve your dining experience. Specifically, we use your information to:
Manage your daily meal bookings and dietary preferences.
Allow Mess Admins to accurately calculate food requirements and generate monthly billing/consumption reports.
Facilitate communication between you and the mess administration (via feedback and announcements).
Provide peer-to-peer features, such as the Messmates leaderboard.
We deeply respect your privacy. Your personal data is strictly for internal mess operations and is never sold, rented, or shared with external marketing agencies, data brokers, or advertisers.
Your data is only visible to:
You: Through your profile and dashboard.
Mess Administrators: To manage operations, admins have access to your meal booking history, employee ID, and name to generate necessary Excel consumption reports.
Other Messmates: Limited to your name/phone number on the leaderboard and chat interfaces, provided you have accepted their friend requests.
We utilize trusted, secure third-party infrastructure to run the MessUp platform. These services only process your data to the extent necessary to provide their specific functions:
Firebase Authentication: Used securely to send OTPs and verify your phone number during login and registration.
Amazon Web Services (AWS): Our entire backend infrastructure is securely hosted on AWS. We use Amazon EC2 for our application servers, Amazon RDS for secure database management, and Amazon S3 for storing media files (such as menu images, chat attachments, and feedback photos).
We implement robust administrative and technical security measures to protect your personal information. Your data is stored securely in our AWS RDS database, and all communication between the app and the server is encrypted.
You have the absolute right to delete your account and all associated data at any time.
You can instantly delete your account by navigating to Profile > User Details > Danger Zone > Delete Account within the app.
Upon deletion, our database cascading rules automatically and permanently erase your personal profile, booking history, chat messages, feedback, and push notification tokens. We do not retain residual data post-deletion.
There is no minimum age requirement to use MessUp, as access is determined by your enrollment or employment status with the participating mess facility. However, if you are a minor, we assume you have obtained parental or guardian consent to use this facility management tool.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or app features. We will notify you of any significant changes via an in-app announcement.
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or your data, please contact the developer directly:
