Chatapp Messenger is a communication application that allows users to send messages, make voice and video calls, participate in group chats, and connect devices such as smartphones and smartwatches.

The app uses backend services such as Firebase to provide authentication, messaging, media storage, and real-time communication features.

2. Data We Collect and Process

We collect and process only the data necessary for the app to function.

2.1 Personal Information

• Email address (for account creation and login)

• User ID (Firebase UID)

• Username / pseudo (if provided)

2.2 Messages and Communication Data

• Chat messages (stored via Firebase Firestore)

• Group messages

• Message metadata (timestamps, read status)

2.3 Media Data

• Photos and videos sent by users

• Audio messages

• Media files stored via Firebase Storage

2.4 Device and Technical Data

• Device information (model, OS version)

• IP address (for connection establishment)

• Network information (latency, connectivity status)

• Firebase installation ID / FCM token (for push notifications)

2.5 Real-time Communication Data

During voice and video calls, the app processes:

• Audio streams

• Video streams

• Connection metadata (WebRTC peer-to-peer communication)

This data is transmitted in real time and is not permanently stored.

3. Purpose of Data Usage

We use the collected data for:

• Enabling messaging and group chat functionality

• Enabling voice and video calls

• User authentication and account management

• Sending notifications (messages, calls)

• Ensuring app security and preventing abuse

• Maintaining real-time communication performance

4. Data Storage and Retention

• Messages and media may be stored until the user deletes them or deletes their account.

• Call audio/video streams are not permanently stored.

• User accounts and associated data can be deleted upon request.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell user data.

We share data only with trusted service providers necessary for app functionality, including:

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage, Messaging)

These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by strict privacy and security obligations.

We do not share data with advertising networks.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encryption and secure transmission protocols to protect user data.

7. User Control and Account Deletion

Users can:

• Update or delete their profile information

• Delete messages

• Delete their account at any time

When a user deletes their account:

• All associated data is removed from Firebase (authentication and database)

• Messages and media linked to the account are deleted where applicable

Users may request deletion by:

• Using the in-app delete account feature

8. Children’s Privacy

The app is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Users will be notified of significant changes.
