Well, you can hit Ctrl+F, but it only searches the chat logs you have loaded on the screen, not the entire history. Since I need to search for something in a conversation that took place a year ago, going though every single log one by one is not going to happen.

I'm building an admin interface for an existing React app, and now I need to find a way to add a chat to it. This chat will work for one-to-one conversations between admins and users. The users will communicate through the one built on the existing app, but the admins need to see the messages and answer them from the Retool interface.

I started to build this chat with plain JavaScript in a custom component which shows the messages, and a form component to send new ones. The most basic stuff is working, but it's not being synced in real time (the query is just running periodically), and there are still some things to implement (i.e. attaching and displaying images, emoji support, aesthetics).

Hi @alicem! A chat integration like this is still not natively supported at the moment, and we currently still don't support realtime updates. Depending on how customizable or external facing you you'd like this to be, we have a comment component that lets you exchange notes between users in an app, but no support for a chat at the moment. In the last sent photo, it seems like there's a text input component with some buttons, and the top-chart portion is a custom component.

We have Intercom installed in our web-based app but lately 20% of our users are experiencing issues with being unable to close the chat - there is no 'x' or down arrow appearing in their window. Even if it shows the down arrow, clicking it will not close the chat. The only way to get it working again is by refreshing the page.

With a chat box on your website, you totally have the advantage when it comes to sales conversions and booking new clients. Imagine how without having a chat box, how many customers would just leave your website without purchasing or committing to your services.

In a new tab, login to your Showit account and navigate to the first page you want to add your chat box code to. Select the page and in the right column select ADVANCED SETTINGS and click into the CUSTOM HEAD HTML box.

Having a messenger chat box on your website can be a really useful tool in selling products online or booking services through your website. While your website may have all of the information someone is looking for, some customers need a little reassurance before making their decision.

Facebook handed the more than 50 million businesses on Messenger the tools needed to build interactive experiences, or "chat bots," that reach the 900 million people who use the messaging app each month.

Analysts are betting Facebook will find a way to make money if legions of businesses start using Messenger to chat with customers and sell goods and services. They estimate Messenger and Facebook's other messaging app, WhatsApp, could eventually generate billions in additional annual revenue.

While they are not yet common in the U.S. and Europe, chat bots have taken off in Asia, where messaging services such as WeChat help users schedule doctor's appointments, shop for the latest styles, play games or the lottery and send money to friends.

Facebook has gingerly experimented with businesses communicating over messenger. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines recently began allowing passengers to check in, get flight updates, make travel changes and talk to customer service reps in its Messenger app.

Other chat bots will help you interact with online services: send a message to the Postmates courier hauling your groceries across town or the GoButler assistant picking up your dry cleaning. News articles from your favorite outlet will be sent to you via Messenger.

The Facebook Messenger app always shows a '1' next to the speech bubble indicating that there is a 'Chat' I haven't read. How can I clear this, or alternatively, find and read this supposedly unread chat?

Chat Rooms are one of the key features of Mystic Messenger, where the player gets to interact with the other characters in the game. An open chat room will last until the next timing when another chat room will open. Should that happen, the player will not be able to participate in the expired chat room unless they spend 10 Hourglasses to make the chat room available again in Casual Story and Deep Story or 15 Hourglasses in Another Story.

The prologue can be played at any time of the day, due to the fact that the 1st Day has the most chats out of the eleven days. However, it is important to note that the time factor still exists. Depending on what time the player starts the game, they might not be able to get 100% on the first day.

How do I disable Facebook chat availability? My chat is offline and I am using Windows 7 with Firefox. When I login with my other account through my mobile Facebook and open a chat conversation I see the account that I use on my computer is active "just now" whenever I move the mouse or refresh the page.

If you read that link you'll see that &idle=117 is the total seconds the account has been idle for. The state=offline stands for whether the chat is active or offline

If you read the URL above, you'll see the part saying idle=117. This denotes the total number of seconds the account has been idle for. The state=offline stands for whether the chat is turned on or off.

A few drawbacks of this method are that you'll not be able to receive messages in real time and you'll not appear online even if the chat is on. You'll have to refresh the page to receive new messages.

Unfortunately, there seems to be no other solution since Facebook's front end can fetch messages only when the client periodically reports that they're active, hence the fetching is done once the last activity is reported. Both of these actions are made possible by a single back-end script (*-edge-chat.facebook.com/pull), through the same request; therefore, you can't have one without the other.

Following tests of a new instant messaging platform on Facebook in March 2008,[12][13] the feature, then-titled "Facebook Chat", was gradually released to users in April 2008.[14][15] Facebook revamped its messaging platform in November 2010,[16] and subsequently acquired group messaging service Beluga in March 2011,[17] which the company used to launch its standalone iOS and Android mobile apps on August 9, 2011.[18][19] Facebook later launched a BlackBerry version in October 2011.[20][21] An app for Windows Phone, though lacking features including voice messaging and chat heads, was released in March 2014.[22][23] In April 2014, Facebook announced that the messaging feature would be removed from the main Facebook app and users will be required to download the separate Messenger app.[24][25] An iPad-optimized version of the iOS app was released in July 2014.[26][27] In April 2015, Facebook launched a website interface for Messenger.[28][29] A Tizen app was released on July 13, 2015.[30] Facebook launched Messenger for Windows 10 in April 2016.[31] In October 2016, Facebook released Messenger Lite, a stripped-down version of Messenger with a reduced feature set. The app is aimed primarily at old Android phones and regions where high-speed Internet is not widely available. In April 2017, Messenger Lite was expanded to 132 more countries.[32][33] In May 2017, Facebook revamped the design for Messenger on Android and iOS, bringing a new home screen with tabs and categorization of content and interactive media, red dots indicating new activity, and relocated sections.[34][35]

In April 2020, Facebook began rolling out a new feature called Messenger Rooms, a video chat feature that allows users to chat with up to 50 people at a time. The feature rivals Zoom, an application that gained a lot of popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic.[47] Privacy concerns arose since the feature uses the same data collection policies as mainstream Facebook.[47]

In July 2020, Facebook added a new feature in Messenger that lets iOS users to use Face ID or Touch ID to lock their chats. The feature is called App Lock and is a part of several changes in Messenger regarding privacy and security.[48] The option to view only "Unread Threads" was removed from the inbox, requiring the account holder to scroll through the entire inbox to be certain every unread message has been seen.[49]

In April 2016, Facebook announced a bot platform for Messenger, including an API to build chat bots to interact with users. In November 2014, the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) listed Messenger (Facebook chat) on its Secure Messaging Scorecard. It received a score of 2 out of 7 points on the scorecard. It received points for having communications encrypted in transit and for having recently completed an independent security audit. It missed points because the communications were not encrypted with keys the provider didn't have access to, users could not verify contacts' identities, past messages were not secure if the encryption keys were stolen, the source code was not open to independent review, and the security design was not properly documented.[150][151][152]
