So, here I am, halfway through MMS 172, and wow, what a ride it's been! I'm having a blast learning about audio production, even though it's pushing me out of my comfort zone. Every new thing we learn gets me pumped, but I'll be honest - I'm a bit worried too. Why? Well, I don't have all the fancy gear some of my classmates have. I'm working with what I've got, which isn't much, but I'm making it work!
When I first started this course, I hardly knew anything about making good audio. I thought it would be super hard, maybe even impossible for me. But now? It's not as scary as I thought. Don't get me wrong, I'm no pro yet, but I'm trying my best to improve. I've figured out that you don't always need the best stuff to make good audio. It's more about being smart with what you have. I've learned to find quiet spots, experiment on DIY sound blockers, and sometimes just wait for the right quiet moment to record. It's been pretty cool figuring all this out!
After we handed in Assignment 1b, I got to hear what my classmates had done. Man, some of their work sounded so professional! At first, I felt a bit bummed out. How could I compete with that? But then I had this "aha" moment. Sure, their audio quality was better, but I could still tell great stories with my audio. That's when I decided to focus on making my content interesting, even if it doesn't sound as crisp as theirs.
Now, about Assignment 2 - I'm excited but also a bit nervous. I'm planning to make a Travel Diary about India, Thailand, and the UAE. How cool is that? But I know it's going to be tricky. Recording good audio while traveling and in busy public places? That's going to be a challenge! I'm expecting to deal with lots of background noise and different kinds of spaces. But you know what? I'm kind of looking forward to figuring it out.
When I think about trying to match the quality of the sample projects we saw in class, I get a little intimidated. But I'm up for it! I might not have the best equipment, but I've got determination and creativity. I'm going to try my best to make listeners feel like they're really in these countries, even if my audio isn't perfect.
As for the final project, I'm more excited than scared now. This course has taught me so much already - not just about audio, but about not giving up and finding ways to make things work. I've learned that when you don't have everything you need, you get creative and come up with cool solutions.
Looking back at what I wrote about myself at the start of the course, I can see how much I've changed. I was excited but pretty nervous then. I still feel that way sometimes, but now the excitement is bigger because I know I can do this stuff!
This journey in MMS 172 has been about more than just learning audio production. It's been about discovering that I can do more than I thought I could. As we start the second half of the course, I can't wait to see what else I can learn and create.
Sure, it might get tough, but I'm ready for it. I've learned a lot, I've got great classmates, and I'm determined to do my best. This course has opened my ears to so many new sounds and ideas. I'm just getting started on this audio adventure, and I'm loving every minute of it!
