The mission of the Merrill Baseball Travel program is to provide a more competitive and structured environment for players to develop their baseball skills and gain exposure to higher levels of competition. The program emphasizes developing players on the fundamentals of baseball and helping these players continue to get better each year.
There are teams available at every level from 8U through 14U.
Teams typically have 10-12 players.
If there are more than 12 players signed up for an age group, we will try to combine age groups, recruit more kids, or rotate players for tournaments.
If there are enough players for multiple teams for an age group, the players will be evaluated and assigned to a team by the coaches and Merrill Baseball Association Travel Team Committee.
Practices may start in the Fall. Most teams do not start training/practicing until January or February (coach’s discretion).
The number of tournaments a team may play in, is decided by the coaching staff (approximately 4-6 tournaments per year).
Tournament season typically starts in May and runs through the end of July.
Tournaments are generally within an hour of Merrill. Some tournaments may involve more travel.
Each tournament will have its own schedule format. Most tournaments guarantee three games and possibly up to six depending on the format of the tournament.
Tournaments may extend the entire weekend, Friday night through Sunday.
Commitment to attending practices and tournaments is required (we do understand there are exceptions). Playing time and positions are earned, not given.
The travel player fee is $150.
We require each family to volunteer at our annual tournament.
Registration for our travel teams will take place for the 2026 season beginning on August 1. We are encouraging all families to register now for planning for the upcoming season. To register, follow the link below
