Introduction: Drilling for oils or minerals deeply embedded underground can challenge the sharpest eye of a trained engineer. And without consistent training or regular skill refreshment and appraisal, on the latest technologies one can become obsolete or outdated. A drilling class can be a great way to attain and integrate the latest skills. We see in deep sea drilling that there are several challenges to contend with, but there are ways to overcome them all with regular skill enhancement.
(a). Extended Reach Drilling (ERD): Extended Reach Drilling (ERD) is the directional drilling of very long horizontal wells. ERD strives to access or reach larger areas from one surface drilling location. (d). Complex Wells Drilling and Engineering: Drilling is extremely technically difficult in areas either due to tectonic zone proximity or geo-mechanical set-ups. This needs and requires higher technical skills and brilliance to execute.

The search for different natural resources deeply embedded in the ground requires highly technical skills for a fluid drilling engineer that strike a balance between nature's preservation and accessing its most precious resources useful to humanity.

What Determines the Best Approach to Use?
Accessing different resources like oil or natural gas may require specialised drill types and tools. There are basic criteria from the feasibility study that will determine the best approach to use. There are geometrical formulas and approaches decided upon through comprehensive research, information gathering, previews, and analysis.
Summary: Drilling has been in existence for a while since oils, natural gas, and other minerals were discovered. And that’s why MPD training or the viscosity of drilling mud are skills you can hone and enhance as a drilling engineering expert.
