Meristema explores the intersection between psychedelics, science, and technology, viewing altered states as gateways to understanding cognition, perception, and culture. Hosted in the unique setting of the Ravino Gardens, the school gathers researchers, artists, and thinkers to discuss psychedelics as media—tools that reveal the deep continuity between natural and artificial forms of intelligence. Through lectures, workshops, and open debates, Meristema fosters an interdisciplinary dialogue rooted in both scientific rigor and imaginative exploration.

The Ravino Gardens were created in 2005 from the dream of Giuseppe D’Ambra, a long-time seafarer and great enthusiast of succulent plants and palms. Upon returning to Forio from his long journeys around the world, he would bring back bags filled with cuttings and seeds of rare plants. The mild climate and fertile soil of the island of Ischia favored the rooting, growth, and reproduction of this exotic flora, which over the years has formed a unique collection distinguished by the number, variety, and size of its botanical specimens.
