The P&C, parents and carers play a vital role in supporting our school and contributing to the partnership between the student, school, and home. Here’s how you can get involved:

P&C Activities and Contributions

• P&C contribution fund: A voluntary contribution from families to assist us in supporting school projects.  This reduces the necessity of frequent fundraising requests and is payable through the  Qkr!app.

🏃I won't do a charity run, here is $50 so we don't have to ask neighbours for sponsorship

🚕I will skip the fancy ball and this is $100 instead of the taxi home

🙏I really want to support the P&C and for the P&C to increase it's support of MHS $5000

• School building and Library fund: A tax deductible contribution to provide funds solely for the “acquisition, construction or maintenance” of school buildings  School Building Fund . A donation can be made at the time of paying school fees or at any time thereafter at the office or clicking "Add Other Item" on your School Bytes Account 

• Canteen: Help in the canteen to promote healthy food choices - our current major fundraiser contributing $44,000 in 2023/2024.

• Grant Writers: If you have experience identifying and writing grants, your skills would be invaluable in securing additional funding for our school.

• Business Sponsorship: If you know of a business that might be interested in sponsoring our projects, we’d love to connect with them.

• Fundraising Ideas: We’re always open to new ideas for raising funds. If you have any suggestions, please share them with us. 

• School-Organised Parent Learning Groups: Participate in learning sessions designed to enhance your child's educational experience.

• Gardens: Volunteer in maintaining and beautifying the school gardens.

• Functions and Other Projects: Assist in organising and running school events and projects.

Why Get Involved?

• Collective Capabilities: The combined efforts of parents/carers and the P&C can provide substantial support for our children and the school.

• Child’s Benefit: Actively contributing at school directly benefits your child’s education and well-being.

• Unique Community: Unlike other schools, Merewether High School is not part of a single suburban community. Parental/carer  involvement provides access to the school community and opportunities to meet other parents.

• Influence and Interaction: Other than family, your child’s friends and school are major influences. Volunteering allows you to stay connected with these influences and interact with other parents and carers.
