The P&C, parents and carers play a vital role in supporting our school and contributing to the partnership between the student, school, and home. Here’s how you can get involved:

Why Get Involved?

• Limited Government Resourcing: Schools have limited resources. Your proactive involvement can help bridge this gap and bring significant improvements. See P&C Federation 

• Collective Capabilities: The combined efforts of parents/carers and the P&C can provide substantial support for our children and the school.

• Benefits for your Child: Actively contributing at school directly benefits your child’s education and well-being.

• Unique Community: Unlike other schools, Merewether High School is not part of a single suburban community. Parental/carer involvement provides access to the school community and opportunities to meet other parents from a wide geographic spead.

• Influence and Interaction: Other than family, your child’s friends and school are major influences. Volunteering allows you to stay connected with these influences and interact with other parents and carers.

How to Help

• Join us: Join the P&C and make a difference through meetings, events and other activites. Membership  

• Make a P&C contribution: Any voluntary contributions from families to assist us in supporting school projects are gratefully accepted via direct deposit. Donations can reduce frequency of fundraising events.

     The "anti-fundraiser": Occasionally we make the following available via the Qkr!app: 

🧁I don't want to bake, instead have the $25 I'll save on ingredients

🏃I won't do a charity run, here is $50 so we don't have to ask neighbours for sponsorship

🚕I will skip the fancy ball and this is $100 instead of the taxi home

🛑I don't want any P&C involvement, please have $500 to forget my name!

🙏I really want the P&C to increase it's support of Merewether High School $5,000

• Tax deductible donation: Make a tax deductible donation to the school building or library fund. These provide funds solely for the “acquisition, construction or maintenance” of school buildings and library resources (School Building Fund). Payment can be made with school fees or any time thereafter at the school office or by clicking "Add Other Item" on your School Bytes Account. The suggested annual amount is $75 for the building fund and $125 for the library fund. 

• Canteen: Help the canteen to promote healthy food choices - our current major fundraiser contributing $44,000 in 2023, $32,000 in 2024, and $36,000 in 2025.

• Marketers: Help us get the word out. If you have gifts in using social media and other forms of marketing the P&C are desparately needing your help! Tell us what you can do and we'd greatly appreciate it. 

• Grant Writers: If you have experience identifying and writing grants, your skills would be invaluable in securing additional funding for our school.

• Business Sponsorship: If you have a business, or know of a business that might be interested in sponsoring our projects, we’d love to connect.

• Fundraising Ideas: We’re always open to new ideas for raising funds. If you have any suggestions, please share them with us. 

• School-Organised Parent Learning Groups: Participate in learning sessions designed to enhance your child's educational experience. These are run by the school and supported by the P&C. 

• Functions and Other Projects: Assist in organising and running P&C events and other projects.
