I enjoy working on projects related to sports analytics, in particular I am interested in (women's) soccer. Below are a few projects that I have completed, some with the help of undergraduate students at Vassar.
If you are a student interested in sports analytics please feel free to reach out.
The aim of this project was to determine a method for measuring the efficacy of an off-ball run. The components of the run we focused on were: the quality of potential pass to the runner, the space opened up for teammates by the run, and the ability of the run to help the maintain possession and alleviate pressure. Data for this project was provided by skillcorner via the American Soccer Insights Summit.
For the past two seasons I have worked with the Vassar Women's soccer team collecting event data and analyzing results and performance. For data collections I utilized the following interface using Javascript. This interface was created by modifying an earlier version of this tracker, which I highly recommend for anyone interested in starting a sports analytics journey (they have many other sports too!). This dashboard contains some of the regular reports we utilized throughout the past two years.
The picture to the right shows a sequences of possession that starts with a throw in and ends in a goal.
