Apologies if this is a daft question, but is it possible to clear the event log?

In order to test the firewall and content filtering settings we have attempted to access numerous sites which we do not really want to show in future event log exports!

We recently had some power issues at some of our non-Meraki sites, and I thought it would be good to know for our Meraki sites how to figure out through the event log if our devices are booting/rebooting due to power events.

Some applications request additional DHCP options that may not be available in the DHCP scope. When this happens the DHCP client will continue to send DHCP informs. This behavior has been seen on Windows clients including XP, Vista and Windows 7. If you are seeing these event types filling the Meraki Event log, you can attempt to find the application or process running on the DHCP client that is requesting additional DHCP information and disable it.

The event log can be used to track a number of events occurring across a network. This article describes how to navigate the event log and filter out extraneous information for troubleshooting and monitoring purposes.

Each Meraki network has its own event log, accessible under Network-wide > Monitor > Event log. In Combined Dashboard Networks, click the drop-down menu at the top of the page and select the event log for one of the following options:

Note: If a device is offline (and remains powered on), it will continue to gather the information that populates the event log and store it locally. Once the device comes back online, this information will then be uploaded to dashboard with the events keeping their original timestamps.

While the event log provides a thorough timeline of events on the network, it is usually unnecessary to view all events across all endpoints. The following options are available to filter down the event log as needed:

Filtering events to a specific connected end-user device can help troubleshoot individual connectivity issues, including IP addressing and network authentication. Entering the MAC address, hostname, or custom name in the Client field will display only events affecting that client, excluding other client information and device events.

An additional, product-specific field can be used to filter events relevant to a specific device in the network. This can be helpful when troubleshooting a particular Meraki device on the network, or a client connected directly to a specific device.

The event log shows all events for clients and endpoints, starting with the most recent event by default. This time frame can be adjusted using the Before field, displaying only events that happened at or before the specified time.

Even when filtering by a single device or client, there can be quite a few events. Selecting specific events to display or excluding specific event types can significantly decrease the amount of data to sort through.

Note: Event logs are tied to the Dashboard network, not stored locally on the device. As such, swapping devices will not affect the event log, but moving devices to a new network will cause their device logs to be cleared.

There were ideas and concepts; a lot of them. Then there was passion; enough to drive those ideas to fulfillment. The birth of Meraki events was inevitable as these ideas were meant to be executed with the immense passion Swati Patil had in her. A team of goal driven and highly ambitious youngsters, led by immensely experienced and equally zealous Swati, makes a complete structure required to drive a successful organization.

Meraki is a full-fledged events & media production company, striving to create unparalleled experiences. Our established systems and processes ensure a seamless flow of work from beginning to end. We break barriers when we need to. And go that extra mile..!!

Although based in Pune, our capabilities go beyond national and international borders. At Meraki, we create stories through our craft which make your events not just visually beautiful, but also leave a lasting impression in the minds of visitors.

I've always been a people's person, right from the days when I was working in HR to managing events for a leading company in Pune; I knew I was meant to do this. I believe in sending out happy vibes in the universe through my events, watching people cherish on those beautiful moments of their special occasions and to know that I was a part in constructing those moments is something that gives me immense joy and confidence to push myself further in this industry. I had a lot of ideas and concepts rushing through my head only to realize later that I had found my calling, I knew that I had to convert these ideas into experiences through this immense passion I have for crafting unparalleled event experiences and thus in 2014, chasing my passion gave birth to Meraki Events. My own company through which I could put out my creative self in front of the world and explore this beautiful world that is of events and entertainment.

Meraki Events organized the opening of our new office in December. The office was beautifully decorated with flowers. The Meraki team organized a photo booth which was crowded throughout the event, churning out memories to take home. Swati and her team were extremely professional in their work and delivered what was promised. A memorable event for all of us. I wish Meraki Events all success.

Me and my wife both of us wanted destination wedding, so when we opted for dhepe wada and asked for some wedding planner ,a friend introduced us to meraki events and to swati and then i can say it now very firmly that yes our wedding planner was the best one we have got in first attempt itself. It was classic yet traditional, nice fusion of professionalism and maintaining harmony with clients. Definitely recommending for future wedding couples ..

To use the Cisco Meraki Cloud API, you need to enable access. After enabling access you will need to generate an API key to provide to InsightIDR when setting up the event source. Instructions for obtaining your API key can be found at: -latest/#!authorization/obtaining-your-meraki-api-key

If you see log messages when you select View Raw Log on the event source but do not see any log messages in Log Search after waiting for a few minutes for them to appear, then your logs do not match the recommended format and type for this event source.

Thank you for taking the time to put into this TA. It's appears to be really useful with the way that Meraki combines so much from the firehose in syslog. I'm having some similar issues as to described above. From a fresh install of 6.6, I installed my dev license and created a new index "meraki". I then forced the source type to be "meraki".

I then installed the TA and opened 1514 UDP, then I went into the Meraki dashboard and forwarded syslog events to the Splunk instance. However, if I just search for index=meraki then I get results, I do not however see different event types and I cannot search for tags "attack" or "ids" according to CIM.

So I ended up looking at what input.conf was actually in the local directory, when there was none listed - it explained what I saw in the data summary. These did exist in the TA under etc/apps and in the default directories but not in the primary local. After adding this and adding the line for ucp 514 along with source and sourcetype to be used, the events magically aligned. I would have thought adding this as an input with these parameters would have added a line and the same information I used to create the input and ensure data was going to the same index but it appears not.

Thanks for your reply and my apologies as I have been working security operations rather than engineering in my lab for some time. I do have this installed and its a single instance with full features available. Recently, I stood up a new instance and sent the same data again as before. This time in Splunk 6.6.6 and the previous release of ES not v5, I installed the latest CIM and the events are being parsed but are not aligning to the CIM properly. Is this a known issue, what can I check against the latest CIM and Splunk ESS to ensure that flows, ids and what not are being mapped and tagged correctly?

I'd like to verify a few things. When you do a index=meraki you say the data is there correct? And it is also listed as sourcetype=meraki correct? And when you search you do not have "fast mode on", you have smart mode or verbose mode on correct?

SNAT:

. I figure this was because the Meraki website was not showing (and so the meraki not using) the public IP I set it up for. SNAT rules to get traffic out the right public IP address. Tried advaced rule applies to IPSEC on and off. Same results. ff782bc1db
