Alumni who are currently enrolled in a university program (must be in second year or above). This student-student mentorship will aim to provide current Marianopolis students with guidance on topics such as how to select a university, how to choose and apply successfully to university program or how to be prepared to transition from college to university.
Alumni who are currently working in a commerce-related field, such as business administration, accounting, marketing, finance, law, banking, or any other relevant field. This professional-student mentorship will aim to provide current Marianopolis students with guidance on how develop their career/education options in the long-run, or how to find internships or other professional opportunities.
Once the mentor registers for the program, potential mentor-mentee matches will be organized by the Mentorship Program Committee. After the matching, mentees will be asked to prioritize a list of potential mentors and the potential mentor(s) will be approached by the MCCMP Committee to determine a mutually satisfactory match. Once a suitable match has been formed, mentors/mentees will be invited to begin the relationship.
Should a match not be possible, mentors will enter in a pool of candidates for future mENTERnopolis students. Should a match prove unsatisfactory, either the mentor or mentee can reach out to the MCCMP committee to confidentially seek advice and/ or request a different match.
It is the student’s responsibility to contact you within 72hours of the pairing. Meetings can happen in person, via telephone and virtually. In all cases, in-person meetings must occur in a public setting.
The mENTERnopolis committee will regularly checkin with mentors and mentees to evaluate the status of the relationship.
After a maximum of 1 year, you will receive an email from the Faculty Lead informing you that the mentor match is complete. You may choose, however, to keep in contact with your mentee, but this will fall outside the scope of the Program.
Mentoring provides you with an opportunity to stay connected with and give back to your alma mater in a personal and unique way. A mentor's role varies with each student; the mentor and the mentee design their own relationship in terms of time involvement, discussion topics, and methods of communication. A mentor should strive to:
• be patient and flexible
• be supportive and encouraging
• communicate efficiently by listening, understanding, and articulating responses
• be available and responsive in answering questions
• offer non-judgmental, constructive feedback
• teach by example
The mENTERnopolis program aims to connect current Marianopolis students with alumni and provide them with the opportunity to grow and learn in an environment outside the classroom. As a mentee, you will be connected with a mentor and be able to ask them questions and receive guidance on several topics. These interactions can include:
Receiving guidance on the university application process
Better understanding life after Marianopolis
Receiving career planning information
