News!
I joined the Department of Geography at the National University of Singapore in July 2025 as an Assistant Professor! I'm looking for postdocs and all levels of students, get more information and apply here: https://forms.gle/Mm3NvyCJZAeDyJch8
My first-author paper titled "Key Environmental and Ecological Variables of Wetland CH4 and CO2 Fluxes Change With Warming" is now published in AGU Earth's Future in June 2025! Read the full article here: https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/2024EF005751?af=R
I'm an Assistant Professor at the National University of Singapore, Department of Geography. My research interests include global carbon cycle (such as wetland carbon flux and drivers) and atmospheric chemistry using advanced monitoring techniques (e.g. drone, aircraft, remote sensing), machine learning algorithms, and atmospheric modeling. Before moving to Singapore, I worked at Prof. Rob Jackson's lab at Stanford University as a postdoctoral researcher on the Global Carbon Project and FLUXNET project, particularly wetland methane emission and its environmental drivers. Before Stanford, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, USA, and Max Planck Institute for Chemistry, Germany. I received my PhD from the Atmospheric Chemistry Department at Max Planck Institute for Chemistry in December 2020 (advisor: Prof. Jonathan Williams). I serve as an Editorial Board Member and Section Lead at Communications Earth & Environment (Springer Nature, Impact Factor: 8.9).
I'm interested in global carbon cycle and atmospheric chemistry using observations, modeling and advanced data analysis, in particular the following topics (but not limited to):
Wetland carbon (emissions, drivers, responses to climate change, management and restoration)
Air quality and atmospheric chemistry
Emerging atmospheric measurement techniques (drones, remote-sensing, sensors, etc.)
Advanced data analysis approaches (e.g. machine learning, causal inference)
I've published ~20 peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals, such as Science, Environmental Science & Technology, Earth System Science Data, Earth's Future, and Geophysical Research Letters. A full publication list is available on this page.
