Our Story . . .
Mended Little Hearts Philadelphia Region was formed in June 2013. The need for a peer-to-peer support organization in the Philadelphia Region for families impacted by a devastating CHD diagnosis. Mended Little Hearts is a program of the Mended Hearts Inc., a non-profit, volunteer-based organization providing hope, help and healing to heart patients and their families since 1951. The Mended Little Hearts’ mission is to provide hope and support to children, families and caregivers impacted by congenital heart defects in order to extend and improve quality of life. The Philadelphia Chapter currently has over 50 member families and hundreds more who follow us via Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. These include children and adults with varying diagnoses. Some of those include: Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome, Coarctation, Atrial Septal Defect, Ventricular Septal Defect, Patent Ductus Arteriosus, Transposition of the Great Arteries, Double Outlet Right Ventricle, Tetralogy of Fallot, Noonan Syndrome, Patent Foramen Ovale, Pulmonary Stenosis, Heterotaxy, Pulmonary Atresia, Kawasaki Disease, Long QT syndrome, and Transplant.
Our goal is to provide support and networking activities for families, fundraising, a Bravery Bag program, Bravery Chest program, emergency bags for transported families, monthly lunches in the Ronald McDonald Parent Room at the Cardiac Center, support for grieving families (angels) and most importantly the love and understanding from another family who is experiencing the same or similar diagnosis. We hope that you will find peace in knowing that you are not alone. Together we can support one another. Together we can fight heart defects!
