Conversations that honour the past and move us forward
A series of interviews with South Asian artists and dance-makers reflecting on their performance work. With Threads of Change, we are seeking to build an archive of South Asian dance in the UK. We want to sit down with artists and converse on what they created, what provoked their inquiries and how they reached new audiences.
This series will be in collaboration with artist and research Venu Parijat as Associate Producer.
Our pilot episode was with four dancers of the production 'One Dha At A Time (2023)'. We spoke to each artist a year after its premiere and traced how they have developed, how their individual pieces have developed in that duration.
For our first episode in 2025, we have Divya Ravi, a notable artist who has been creating unique work in Bharatanatyam. We are diving into her work 'Akhyat Akhayana' on feminist voices in indigenous cultures. Pondering over the various poems, figures, and performance elements with Divya is Venu Parijat Joshi, an artist and researcher.
This informal tete-a-tete is taking place on Friday, 22nd August 2025 at Arts House Studios in Camden. We would love to have you with us.
