IMPACT:
We collected feedback after the event from the attendees as well as the participants. Of the 25 responses, 100% of respondents said "Yes" to support more events like World Dance Day.
We asked them to identify which category their practice fits into. Some identified with multiple roles like Community Dancer (6), Profesional Dancer (4), Teachers of Dance (3), Students of Dance (6), Parents of Dancers (2) and Friends/Supporters of Dancers (9).
We asked them how they would like to be involved in a future events. They chose multiple ways they would like to be involved, however most respondents chose the 'Attend and cheer the participants' option. The second most chosen option was 'Participation for myself' followed closely by 'Participation for students/children' which tells us that this event will find plenty of participation from the regional practitioners and have an audience to cheer them on. Six respondents also chose the 'Volunteer to help run the event' option showing that they want to be involved in the process as much as the performance.
And, finally, we wanted to know what a 'World Dance Day event should be...' and 70.8% respondents said they want it to be a showcase of local and regional talent of all ages and all styles. Since multiple choices were allowed, 66.7% also wanted this event to be an 'Opportunity to reach potential audiences, students, and collaborators'. Another 66.7% responses would also like this event to be a 'Sharing of artistic practice among professionals'.
This survey has given us important information that we will use when planning the next World Dance Day celebratory event.
