The University of Cape Town
UCT has six campuses, including Upper, Middle and Lower campuses; Hiddingh Campus; the Health Sciences Campus; and the Breakwater Campus.
The AC Jordan building, which is the venue for the third day of the MEMOs conference, is situated on the university's Upper Campus (pictured above), which is renowned for its striking views and proximity to Table Mountain.
Room 116 is the official seminar and events venue for the Department of English Literary Studies.

The AC Jordan building takes its name from the late professor, scholar, and writer, Archibald Campbell (AC) Jordan, who was the first black African to receive a PhD in African Languages at UCT in 1957. The building is home to several Humanities departments, including the English Literary Studies department.
Address:
AC Jordan Building, University Avenue, University of Cape Town, Upper Campus, Rondebosch
The AC Jordan Building is situated on the university's Upper Campus (Point 1 on the map below) in Rondebosch. The Homecoming Centre is in District Six near the Zonnebloem and the City Centre, which is closer to the university's Hiddingh Campus (Point 5 on the map below), which is home to UCT's Michaelis School of Fine Art, as well as the UCT Centre for Dance, Theatre and Performance Studies.
It is not possible to walk from town to Upper Campus, so delegates staying in the CBD nearer to the Homecoming Centre will need to take transport to the university. We recommend using a taxi service or Uber to travel to Rondebosch.
Navigating to 116 AC Jordan
When arranging transport via car, please arrange to be dropped off on 'Residence Road' near the steps. Walk up the steps towards The Plaza (D5 and D6). If you are facing the mountain, AC Jordan is the first building to the left of Plaza, towards University Avenue South.
If you have specific accessibility needs, please be in touch with the conference committee so we can advise on the best way to get onto University Avenue.
The 116 Venue is on the same level as University Avenue and Plaza. It is closest to the second entrance/door of the building (which is in D4 on the map below). Once you enter, 116 is to your right, opposite the elevator.
