This year we will use our library time to explore, create, and develop critical thinking and research skills, in addition to fostering a love of reading in a fun and welcoming environment. Check back for specific information on what students are working on or follow us on Twitter @EHk5libraries.
Mission and Goals:
The mission of the Pre K-Grade 5 library program, implemented at both Memorial and Center schools, is to promote information literacy and the effective use of ideas and technology among students and staff. The program is designed to meet this goal through:
instructing how to access, select, organize, and evaluate information.
promoting digital citizenship and practicing responsible use of technology.
providing a collection of print and non-print materials to supplement and enhance the Pre K-5 curriculum.
supporting personal growth and development through reading and literature.
providing information, reference and reader’s advisory services to both students and staff.
Borrowing Policies and Loan Periods:
Students will be able to check out a library book each week during their library time. Please make every effort to ensure that your child is returning books during the following week on their library day so that other children have the opportunity to check out the book. If at any time you are not sure if your child's library obligations are clear, please contact the Media Center and we will be happy to let you know. Thank you for your help with this!
