We do not use your data to train AI models.

• Ema is currently powered by OpenAI. On March 1st, 2023, OpenAI updated its API data policy, and now API data is not used to train or improve AI models.

• We are exploring using alternative models to train Ema which further guarantee user privacy and data security. Continuously reviewing our practices to ensure the highest-quality data-privacy practices is one of our top priorities.

We do not sell or share your data.

• Referring to our mission statement: "We are empowering users to unlock their potential by giving them agency over their personal data - making it easier for them to record and interact with their memories and feelings." 

• We are here to help you build your memory archive so that you can both learn from your memories and spend time making new ones. This means making you feel safe and comfortable with providing Ema with real, intimate memories, and that means not selling your data.   

We go the extra mile to keep your data secure.

• Our company is built on a software development platform that is SOC 2 certified. SOC 2 is a voluntary compliance standard for service organizations, developed by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), which specifies how organizations should manage customer data. The standard is based on the following Trust Services Criteria: security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, privacy. A SOC 2 report is tailored to the unique needs of each organization. 

We protect your data.

• During our current MVP process, we anonymize your data inputs which are occasionally reviewed in the case of errors or bugs. Access to this anonymized data is limited with specific protocols implemented to preserve user privacy.

• Our long-term vision for the company is to have all memory storage and processing take place on-device. This would it make it physically impossible for us to see your data - which is exactly what we want. Current technology limitations make this unfeasible, but we are continuously exploring and reviewing development in this area and hope to implement this as soon as possible. 

If at any point you'd like to remove your data from the platform, you are able to do so easily, safely, and quickly.
