About

My ministry is called The Wreath Shoppe. I have not gotten nonprofit status yet but that is something I may consider one day? At the moment it is simply my own money being used to purchase clearance sale flowers or secondhand/rummage sale/thrift store flowers. All the flowers are used to make different kinds of wreaths, that are given away for free. I have donated wreaths to fundraisers (no, not quite like the candy boxes fundraisers you remember from middle school), made wreaths to giveaway as sympathy gifts, and generally making wreaths for family members. My ministry is a passion of mine, It is a relaxation of mine, it’s a joy of mine.

This past summer my husband and I worked in the Shoppe to rearrange cabinetry, to hang some ribbon racks and some Edison bulb string lights (my how they give the shoppe such ambience.) We re-purposed some stereo speaker stands into rolling tables, we put in new French doorsAnd hung exterior lights on the shop. The shop is heated with a wood burning stove, that also heats my husband’s shop.

A couple of years down the road we plan to build my husband a new shop, and I will claim his old shop tripling The Wreath Shoppe’s current size! One of the first things I plan to do with my new oversized Wreath Shoppe is build hang racks. Similar to a regular clothing rack, only beefed up a little bit more for extra weight, I want to hang a wreath on an S hook then cover the wreath in clear plastic so that they can easily be moved up and down the clothing rack for viewing, but covered so the wreaths do not tangle. This method will take up so much less space than if each wreath were hanging flat on a wall.

One other other thing that I would love to change once we begin to convert my husband’s old shop into the new Wreath Shoppe is adding cedar coverings to the porch pillars. I would love to add this cedar look to the porch pillars on the garage and the house. I love the look of a clean white farmhouse spruced up with the natural wood look of that orangey rusty cedar color. And you bet I have a board on Pinterest that houses numerous ideas of these white farm houses with cedar accents.

Until next time continue to dream up your own ministries, your own Wreath Shoppes because hobbies are a free anti-depressant, whether it’s a love for candy boxes or music in the background. If your hobby is a free high-dose anti-depressant and the package deal of Edison lights, music and your hobby, well that’s like finding fountain of youth! . Happy “wreathing” to you all.
