Privacy Policy — Melting Ice
Last updated: 2 October 2026
Applies to: the Melting Ice mobile game on Google Play (Android) and the Apple App Store (iOS)
This policy explains what happens to your information when you play Melting Ice. It is written to be short and plain, because a privacy policy nobody reads protects nobody.
THE SHORT VERSION
We do not ask for your name, email, phone number or location, and we never see who you are. Your game progress is saved on your own device. If you are signed in to Google Play Games, a copy of that progress is also kept in your own Google Account so it follows you to a new phone — we cannot read it. The only other data that leaves your phone or tablet is what the advertising service needs in order to show ads, and what our install-measurement service (AppsFlyer) needs to tell us which advertisement, if any, led to the game being installed.
WHAT WE COLLECT OURSELVES
We do not ask for, collect or sell your name, email, phone number, contacts or precise location. The only information we receive is the install-measurement data described in the "Install measurement (AppsFlyer)" section below, which tells us how people found the game. We do not sell any of it.
WHAT IS STORED ON YOUR DEVICE
The game saves a few things locally, on your device. We cannot see any of it:
- Which levels you have finished, and the stars you earned
- Music and sound volume
- Which tutorial hints you have already seen
- Your choice about personalised ads
Uninstalling the game removes all of it from your device. You can also erase your progress at any time from Settings → Reset Progress inside the game.
GOOGLE PLAY GAMES (ANDROID)
On Android, Melting Ice uses Google Play Games Services. If you are signed in to Google Play Games on your device, the game is able to:
- Show you achievements and leaderboards for Melting Ice
- Save a copy of your progress to your own Google Account, so that it is still there if you change or reset your phone
The saved copy is a single short line of numbers: which level you have reached and how many stars you earned on each level. It is about 600 bytes. It contains no name, no email, no location, no device identifier and nothing you have written.
Two things are worth being clear about:
- That saved copy is stored in your Google Account, not on our servers. We have no servers. The developer of Melting Ice cannot open it, download it or see that it exists.
- Signing in is handled entirely by Google. The game never sees your Google password.
You do not have to use any of this. If you are not signed in to Google Play Games, the game works exactly the same way and your progress simply stays on the device.
To remove the saved copy, open the Google Play Games app, find Melting Ice, and delete its saved game. Deleting your Google Play Games profile removes it as well. Google's handling of this data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
ICLOUD (iOS)
On iPhone and iPad, Melting Ice saves a copy of your progress to your own iCloud account, so that it is still there if you change or reset your device, and so that your devices stay in step with each other.
The saved copy is the same short line of numbers described above: which level you have reached and how many stars you earned on each level. It contains no name, no email, no location, no device identifier and nothing you have written.
- It is stored in your iCloud account by Apple, not on our servers. The developer of Melting Ice cannot open it, download it or see that it exists.
- The game does not ask you to sign in. It uses the iCloud account already set up on your device. If iCloud is turned off, your progress simply stays on the device.
To remove the saved copy, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage, and delete the data for Melting Ice. Apple's handling of iCloud data is covered by Apple's privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
APPLE GAME CENTER (iOS)
On iPhone and iPad, Melting Ice uses Apple Game Center for achievements and leaderboards, if you are signed in to Game Center on your device. The game sends Game Center only which achievements you have unlocked, the highest level you have reached, and your total number of stars.
- Game Center is run by Apple. We receive no personal information from it: not your Game Center name, your Apple Account or your email address.
- You do not have to use it. If you are not signed in to Game Center, the game works exactly the same way.
You can sign out of Game Center, or change who can see your profile, in Settings > Game Center. Apple's handling of Game Center data is covered by Apple's privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
ADVERTISING
Melting Ice is free, and shows occasional full-screen ads between levels. These are served by Unity Ads, a service of Unity Technologies. To show an ad, Unity Ads may process:
- A device advertising identifier — the Advertising ID on Android, or the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) on iOS. You can reset or switch either of these off at any time, using the steps below.
- Device information such as model, operating system and language — to display the ad correctly
- IP address — to determine your approximate country
- Whether you viewed, closed or clicked an ad — to measure the ad
This data is handled by Unity, not by us. Their policy is available here:
https://unity.com/legal/game-player-and-app-user-privacy-policy
INSTALL MEASUREMENT (APPSFLYER)
We advertise Melting Ice on other apps and websites. To know which of those advertisements actually lead to people installing and opening the game, Melting Ice uses AppsFlyer, an install-attribution service. When you open the game, AppsFlyer may process:
- A device identifier — the Advertising ID on Android, or the Identifier for Vendors (IDFV) on iOS. On iOS the game does not ask for permission to track you, so the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) is not used; on iOS, attribution relies on Apple's privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork.
- IP address — used to determine your approximate country and to match an install to an ad click
- Device information such as model, operating system, language and app version
- The date and time the game was installed and opened, and the advertisement (if any) you clicked or viewed before installing
We use this only to measure and improve our advertising — for example, to see which ad campaigns bring new players. It is not used to build a profile of your interests, and it is not used to show you personalised ads. AppsFlyer processes this data on our behalf; its policy is here:
https://www.appsflyer.com/legal/privacy-policy/
You can limit this the same way as for advertising: reset or delete your advertising identifier using the steps in the next section.
YOUR CHOICE ABOUT PERSONALISED ADS
By default, Melting Ice asks Unity to show non-personalised ads — ads that are not based on a profile of your interests. You will still see ads, but they are chosen without using your advertising identifier to build a profile.
On iOS this also means the game does not ask for permission to track you across other companies' apps and websites. If that ever changes, Apple's own permission request will appear first, and you are free to refuse it.
You can switch your advertising identifier off for every app on your device:
On Android
Settings → Google → Ads, then "Delete advertising ID" or "Opt out of Ads Personalisation"
On iPhone or iPad
Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and turn off "Allow Apps to Request to Track"
Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising, and turn off "Personalised Ads"
CHILDREN
Melting Ice is a colourful puzzle game and children may well enjoy it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. There is no chat, no user profiles, no photo upload and no way to contact other players inside the game.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information through this app, please write to us at the address below and we will look into it.
PURCHASES
Melting Ice contains no in-app purchases. We never ask for payment or card details.
YOUR RIGHTS
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what data is held about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted — for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California.
We do not hold your name, email or other contact details, so we cannot look you up by them. If you would like install-measurement data linked to your device to be deleted, email us at the address below and include your device's advertising ID (Android: Settings → Google → Ads), and we will ask AppsFlyer to delete it. For data held by the advertising service, use the opt-out steps above, or contact Unity directly through the policy linked in the Advertising section.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app's update notes on Google Play and the App Store.
