Undergraduate research opportunities

The Language, Aging, & Knowledge Electrophysiology (LAKE) Lab is recruiting undergraduate volunteers for Fall 2024, with the possibility of starting as early as August 1, 2024.

Research in the LAKE Lab will focus on how the brain makes sense of language in real time. To study this, we will use cognitive electrophysiology (EEG/ERP) and behavioral methods from psycholinguistics, cognitive science, and developmental science. A key goal is to better characterize the nature of variation in processes that underlie and accompany language comprehension and how this may change with healthy aging.

Depending on interest and progress in the lab, duties will include some or all of the following:

- Hands-on training in EEG (brainwave) data collection methods and theory

- Participating in journal clubs (where we read and discuss articles)

- Helping to conduct literature reviews

- Creating and testing web-based surveys and language materials

- Developing recruitment strategies for community participants

- Recruiting and scheduling participants for studies

- Data collection (both in-person EEG studies and web-based behavioral studies)

If you are interested in volunteering, please email Dr. Troyer with a description of why you’d like to work in the lab and (optionally) your CV.
