Information for prospective grad students

The Language, Aging, and Knowledge Electrophysiology (LAKE) lab directed by Melissa Troyer, Ph.D., at the University of Nevada Las Vegas invites applications for Ph.D. positions in Psychological and Brain Sciences, starting in Fall 2024.

Research in the LAKE lab investigates how people make use of their existing knowledge and experiences to anticipate, make sense of, and learn from language in real time. A particular focus is on how knowledge, language, and learning change across the adult lifespan. To study these topics, we use cognitive electrophysiology (EEG/ERP) and behavioral measures.

The lab is looking for applicants with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Linguistics, Neuroscience, or other related fields (e.g., Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences; Learning Sciences; Education). Applicants should have excellent communication skills and a strong demonstrated interest in topics related to the research focus of the lab. Preferred skills and experiences include a background in experimental research, EEG/ERP methods, and/or computer programming.

Applications are processed through UNLV’s graduate school: https://www.unlv.edu/graduatecollege. For informal questions, please contact Melissa Troyer, melissa.troyer@unlv.edu. The application deadline for Fall 2024 is Dec. 1, 2023.
