The Troyer Language, Aging, & Knowledge Electrophysiology (LAKE) Lab is currently under construction as of Fall 2023!

Research in the LAKE Lab focuses on how the brain makes sense of language in real time. To study this, we use cognitive electrophysiology (EEG/ERP) and behavioral methods from psycholinguistics, cognitive science, and developmental science. A key goal is to better characterize the nature of variation in processes that underlie and accompany language comprehension and how this may change with healthy aging. Current research focuses include:

• How do individual differences in knowledge and experience influence how the brain makes sense of language in real time?

• How do relationships between language and knowledge change with healthy aging?

• How do knowledge and aging influence anticipatory processing during real-time language comprehension?

• How do knowledge and aging shape how people learn from language in the moment and over the long term?

The LAKE lab is recruiting up to 1-2 PhD students for a Fall 2024 start date. Interested students can read more here.
