I am Melissa Kincaid, your creative instructional partner. With over two decades of experience teaching,  supporting educators, partnering with district-level stakeholders, and collaborating with vendor and community partners, I specialize in transforming traditional learning experiences into moments of high engagement and deep learning. As the founder of Creative Nerd LLC, I am committed to collaborating with educational stakeholders to creatively integrate the most effective strategies, tools, and technologies to maximize instructional impact.

My journey as an educator began in 2003 as a Math and Science teacher in Cincinnati, Ohio. After years in the classroom at both the elementary and middle school levels, I developed a deep passion for creative lessons that make thinking visible through arts integration, digital tools, and multimedia. This success led me to roles as a Mathematics Specialist and Instructional Coach. Today, I am a proud member of the Learning Technologies Team at Cincinnati Public Schools, where I oversee technology initiatives and empower teachers to reimagine their instructional practices. Beyond the district, I also serve as a visiting instructor at Miami University, preparing the next generation of educators.

Recognized throughout the EdTech community, I frequently share my expertise through bespoke trainings as well as presentations at high-profile conferences. I have delivered professional learning at major events such as ISTE, FETC, TCEA, SXSW, OETC, and NCTM, and I serve as an affiliate trainer for premier partners including EdgeGain, BrainBuffet, and WiseUp Digital. My presentations address diverse and timely topics, including leveraging AI in instructional design, empowering learners in the age of AI, creative mathematics, courageous coaching, and transforming traditional textbook resources into engaging multimedia tasks. My commitment to educational excellence was further recognized in 2025 when I was honored with the Odell Owens' Community Hero Award from CET/PBS.

Across all my work—from reviewing new tools and creating digital resources to hosting professional learning sessions and sharing content on my YouTube channel (which features EdTech unboxings, webinars, tutorials, and more)—my goal remains the same: to serve as a trusted consultant who supports teachers in becoming more confident and creative practitioners in the digital and AI era. My upcoming book, which focuses on revamping educational resources into high-engagement experiences, represents my latest mission: fostering the 'Creative Nerd' in every student and educator.
