Making a focus on math by celebrating important math dates.
Problem of the Week encourages students to think critically and develop problem solving skills.
Students work collaboratively to solve a Suduko problem each week. When possible, I would come out in the mornings and support students with understanding how to play.

Using a Padlet, students are able to explore new strategies and try them out on different problems.
Grade 5 journey representations for Fractions and Decimals.
Grade 1 students reflect: Green for problems they are sure about; yellow for problems you think you know; red for problems you aren't sure about.
Students use this data to set goals and create clue cards to help them with mastering the yellow and red facts.

Using the multiplication chart in a new way. Having students See, Think and Wonder what is going on.
Students explore the strategy of Counting On. Using images they think about what it is, how it work, and how it can help them with addition.
