ACADEMIC

This wasn’t exactly my first experience with Linux as I’ve done some work with Terminal with my dad, but it was definitely something I wasn’t exactly comfortable or familiar with. The computers in the lab were intimidating but also surprisingly slow because they’re all connected to one big superserver. Obviously, I’ve used GUI a lot, but I'm looking forward to working with command line interfaces in this course. GUI is generally more intuitive and more user-friendly, but Command line interfaces produce immediate results when you enter them–helping you navigate your computer quickly.

PERSONAL

The best aspect of living at COSMOS is definitely the people you meet and interact with both inside and outside your cluster. All of them are super interesting, driven, and fun and I look forward to getting to know them better. The most challenging part of COSMOS is just catching up with others when something isn’t working—for example, my wifi or davis account wasn’t working for a while, so I had to struggle to catch up.

I talked my roommate, Coco, who's from Cluster 1: Quantum Mechanics and Introduction to Nanotechnology. The most interesting thing she learned is programming in C language and working with ACDC series in electric currents. Also, she learned about the Uncertainty Principle and how advanced math concepts are integrated into it. She taught me the Uncertainty Principle, which states that you can not simultaneously know the velocity and position of an object.

The best way to prove that you understand a lecture is to teach it to someone else. Articulating main points and details can help one reflect on what they truly know, and what they can study more on.
