Using pastel colors and playful subject matter, I create images that appear cute and bubbly but portray darker narratives. I bring artifacts from my childhood, pop culture, and Mexican history to tell stories about innocence, misfortune, and cultural traditions. Through absurd humor, my oil paintings explore my version of a possible future based on experiences from the past.
These works are set in a post-apocalyptic world that was destroyed by nuclear wars, where society is reemerging slightly mutated. In colorful wastelands, deformed humans live amongst gigantic radioactive bugs and disfigured animals trying to continue the human race. Although they suggest the destruction of Earth as we know it, these paintings offer an optimistic take on the end of the world.
