Melanie Boeckmann, DrPH
professor and writer
I am professor of Global Health at the University of Bremen in Germany. I research climate change adaptation, implementation science, social justice and cultural aspects of environmental and global health. I have conducted research in Europe, Japan and South Asia, and I collaborate with colleagues in the UK, US, Japan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Beyond the environment I am interested in tobacco use, tobacco control and the interdependencies of structural and behavior-focused prevention. A third interest of mine lies in theories and methods of medical anthropology.
The newly-minted Department of Global Health in Bremen will develop a global research portfolio with partners in different countries in the coming years.
In the future you will also see me apply feminist and arts-based research approaches more frequently.
